Greatest looper but not true stereo
Maarten vdG, 06.04.2019
The RC-300 is great, I use it synced to the RC-505 of the singer in the band, BUT there is one big flaw with all the BOSS loopers: they are NOT TRUE STEREO!
Yes surely on the output ( real detailed panning), but all the wonderful stereo fx you made your sound BEFORE you go into the RC-300/505 ( e.g. stereo delays Time line or stereo arpegiators fx of your synth) are back in the mono stew again. That is a pity, big time.
I come from the Pigtronix and the Ditto 2+ and they are true stereo..
How come nobody ever talked about this in any of the reviews I read?
The user manual does admit it. Too bad!
For looping with a couple of parts it is so essential to creat stereo signal, other wise you still sound as one instrument.

For the rest the RC?s are superb. Of course: with more possibilities comes more thinking and manual reading but I?m still amazed how the inventors at BOSS ( the mothers of all the loopers) made it relatively easy.
The automatic detection of the tempo make it also so easy.
I just hope they will fix this stereo thing, but I suppose it is too deep in their way of processing that they will not go that way (since nobody ever noticed anyway:)
I?m a little jealous by now on the 5 tracks of the looper of our singer, I have only 3. :(

Excellent unit, rubbish wall-wart power supply.
Mark598, 13.03.2021
If I could change one thing, I would put the power supply inside and use a proper power cord. The flimsy mini DC jack connector is giving me grief these days and I'm going to have to fix it soon. But the unit itself is great. Sound quality is just what you would expect, and it's very flexible in terms of independence (or not) of tracks. I've used it for regular looping and also used it to fly in sound effects with my feet. Managing the content is a bit painful - it could really use a decent librarian, or even editor, for setting up set lists and more complex setups. There is no way to back up and restore an individual patch over USB for instance, and I ended up writing my own solution for that in python. I barely use the effects because I found them somewhat uninspiring especially for guitar, but I've found the flexible additional outputs useful when I've used it for sound effects and regular looping in the same gig, and could give each it's own stereo output.
-1 handling for the power supply

Awesome for musicians, terrible for synth setups
Jazzy Tea, 01.01.2021
It`s a lot "geekish", but if you patiently dive into the settings, you can really personalize the way how it should work. I recommend to carefully browse the manual before buy. For pure musicians not fixed to certain tempo it`s a dream machine.

However, for MIDI/synth setups it`s disaster:
1. No MIDI slave possibility
2. Tap tempo is engaged, when you press "STOP" button 3 times, no possibility to turn this off. I thought I throw it out of window during playing sets at home, because I was constatly changing tempo in the middle of the set.
3. If you send MIDI messages, but currently want to stop RC300 from playing, you have to keep one blank track on. Otherwise you`ll stop whole set.
4. No further development, no direct contact on tech support. The firmware you buy with new machine is v1.10, last official release is v1.05, weird... After some time it started crashing with some message (don`t remember which) and I had to reinstall. Luckily it works OK since then.

If you still want to use it in synth setup, please unplug the midi cables and just set tempo manually...

The best loop pedal by a mile
07.09.2016
This is the perfect loop pedal, no question.

I bought this somewhat begrudgingly: desiring a cheaper pedal but requiring one that allowed you to dial in and quantise to specific tempo values - without having to rely solely on tap tempo or perfectly time foot stomps that always resulted in loops gradually falling out of sync with other players, synth sequences and programmed drum tracks.

So I bought this pedal over the other (much cheaper) alternatives solely for this feature. Gladly I do not feel like the extra money was wasted.

The RC-300 is so much more than a loop pedal. It's 3 loop pedals in one, with the ability to recall different settings on the fly using intuitive controls so you can have entirely different functionality for each song on your set list. It also features an additional FX footswtich and expression pedal that can be assigned to control parameters or function as a range of completely independent effects that all come built in - such as: distortion, phaser, tremolo, chorus.

If you need an all singing all dancing, and extremely versatile loop pedal then this is it. Especially if you are prone to clumsy, poorly times foot stomps.
