Twice the power of the Epic 5

The Epic 55 is an active monitor speaker that delivers twice the output of its smaller sibling, the Epic 5. In addition to two woofers and a tweeter, the monitor also features two passive radiators, which extend the low-end frequency response. The Epic 55 is characterised by a flat, prominent frequency response and a high dynamic range, resulting in a particularly high audio quality. Produced to a high level of quality, the Epic 55 also features a sophisticated design for outstanding directivity. The signal path, which is purely analogue, reproduces the signal directly and without distortion, and all with just minimal noise. This makes the Epic 55 an excellent choice for professional music productions in smaller home studios.

Sophisticated design

All components used in the Epic 55 have been perfectly matched. The monitor uses a 1" tweeter and two 5.25" woofers, and is equipped top and bottom with a passive radiator as part of its bass reflex system. Overall, the Epic 55 boasts a frequency response ranging from 35Hz to 30kHz and exhibits a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 112db at 100Hz. The volume can be adjusted on the back of the device, and the sophisticated design of the Epic 55 is geared towards achieving a balanced transient and decay response. Two control dials are located at the back of the speaker, which allow adjustment to the room acoustics by amplifying or reducing frequencies at 250Hz and 2.5kHz respectively by up to 5dB in 1dB increments. A symmetrical XLR connection provides a flexible connection to a signal source.

High-performance midfield monitor

The Epic 55 is designed to provide high-quality sound reproduction, an exceptional frequency response, and a high dynamic range in larger studio applications. These characteristics are not only attributable to the purely analogue signal path but also to the specialised production of all individual components developed specifically by the manufacturer for these speakers. The mechanically aligned timing of the wave fronts guarantees correct oscillation in phase, resulting in an audible improvement in sound quality. Using a pair of Epic 55s will fill the recording studio with sound to optimum effect, reaching a large audience of production participants. The Epic 55 comes in a sturdy transport box, allowing it to be safely transported from studio to studio.

About reProducer Audio Labs

reProducer Audio Labs was founded in Germany in 2016. The company’s primary area of focus is on developing sonically uncompromising professional studio monitors, with a technical design which aims to achieve the flattest and widest possible frequency response, a rapid transient response, a high dynamic range, and low levels of sound distortion, combined with low inherent noise. The passive radiators included in these models ensure an extended low-end frequency response. In addition to the branch in Germany, reProducer Audio Labs also has offices in the United States and Korea.

Numerous setup and installation options

The Epic 55 is made of aluminium and medium-density fibreboard to provide the requisite stability. Due to the compact nature of the design, this monitor is extremely versatile and therefore suitable for installation close to a wall, for example. The four feet included in the scope of delivery ensure that the Epic 55 can be securely positioned on a tabletop, whilst the vertical arrangement without feet also allows the Epic 55 to demonstrate its sound potential to full effect. For the perfect response, two Epic 55 models should be arranged at a distance of 0.8m to 1.4m apart and equidistant from the listener to form a stereo triangle. A setup angle of 30° is recommended here.
