Ultra high-powered wash

The Varytec Hero Wash 300 FC is ashonishingly affordable for its performance class as well as a great solution for users looking specifically to create light beams with smooth contours in numerous different applications. Whatever the user's specific requirement may be, the Hero Wash 300 FC's core area of expertise is providing powerful surface illumination, and unlike its sibling, the Hero Wash 300 TW (which delivers only white light), this model provides a whole range of colours - from soft and pastel-like through to bright and striking. A blade effect (as found on the Hero Wash 640FX) is missing here, but the Hero Wash 300 FC does feature three segments that can be controlled separately, and the user can choose between three different fan operation modes depending on how quiet things need to be.

Let there be light

The Varytec Hero Wash 300 FC features 19 RGBW LEDs with a power rating of 15W each, and the moving head delivers a total of 7,000 lux at 5m and 6°. Its motorised zoom function, which can be varied between 6° and 50°, opens up a wide range of applications, and operation is possible via DMX (with 11, 15, or 26 channels), by selecting one of the eight automatic programmes that are provided, in "Sound" mode, as part of a master/slave setup, or manually using the four buttons adjacent to the display. A practical feature is that the DMX interface features inputs and outputs in both three and five-pin formats, in addition to which the pulse-width modulation can be adjusted.

Ready to take the stage

Stages and performance backdrops of all kind can be generously bathed in white or colourful light using the Varytec Hero Wash 300 FC, which also features a practical key lock function for added security when the Wash 300 FC is placed within reach of the audience. For use during theatre performances, the display illumination can be set to switch off automatically after several seconds of inactivity, while the "Blackout if XY run" function allows the Wash 300 FC to be deactivated during pan and tilt motions. And Varytec has of course made allowances for how quiet things sometimes need to be in the theatre: When the lighting is dimmed and the Wash 300 FC therefore running at less than full power, the integrated cooling fan can be run with extremely low noise in "Silent" mode. The other two modes - "Automatic" and "Max" - in turn are the correct choice for live music shows where the Wash 300 FC has to run at maximum power.

About Varytec

Over the years, Thomann has greatly enriched its already extensive range of lighting products with its in-house brand Varytec. In addition to LED spotlights, theatre lighting, and moving lights, Varytec offers an arsenal of matching accessories. Tripods, cables, power distributors, and all kinds of other components are, like the lighting solutions themselves, manufactured by well-known names in the field. The firm’s direct sales approach, which eliminates intermediate retailers, ensures that all of these products are nevertheless attractively priced. Varytec's range comprises well over 200 items, which will illuminate everything from home-streamer setups to photo studios, theatres, and concert halls.

The star of the show

Both mobile DJs and operators of party locations who are looking to keep their equipment to a minimum but prefer to have their lights mounted on trusses rather than on the floor will appreciate the two omega brackets that are included in the Varytec Hero Wash 300 FC's scope of delivery. Two units can be used together to evenly illuminate the dance floor, which is possible without a lighting desk thanks to the optional master/slave mode: The first unit is simply set to "Sound" mode (the sensitivity of the inbuilt microphone is adjustable), and the second unit is then set to DMX mode and its DMX input connected to the master unit's DMX output using a suitable cable (e.g. the Stairville PDC3CC DMX Cable 10,0m 3-pin), making this unit the slave. Finally, the Stairville XLR 3-pin DMX connector (not included) must be connected to the slave unit's output as an end resistor, and the lighting effects will then follow the rhythm of the music when this setup is in operation.

Projecteur Globalement interessant.
Eric V. 01.06.2022
