For the gigging musician who only needs a solid page turner
As most session musicians I'm many times handed a set of songs on the day (using ForeScore or Songbook Pro on an iPad) and just need a stable page turner. No nonsense, but sturdy and glitch free. The Airturn BT500S-2 is just that. I am not after anything else, just a working page turner aside or on my pedalboard. It has so far not failed me and the build quality is road worthy.

Airturn BT500S 2
Pairs super easy with my iPad and connects quickly without losing connection. I use it to turn the pages on the UnRealBook App. It is perfect.
Easy to use and you can’t accidentally double click and turn too many pages. Much better than any other blue tooth page turner I have had.
After charging the unit, I unplugged it and played easily for an hour. It says it can keep going for 200 hours, only time will tell, but you can also use it plugged in, so battery life is not an issue.
I am very pleased with the pedal. The chrome buttons to move forward or back give a positive click (feel , it’s not noisy). This is the perfect solution.

Good but not the best
This product is supposed to be premium, but it lacks smartphone compatibility* and has connectivity issues, even with PC **
*In order to use it with a smartphone, you need to install a button remapper app on the phone to convert PC keystrokes into smartphone functions (volume up/down, play, touch, prev. track).
*When using their proprietary phone app to update the firmware, the unit disconnects via bluetooth, making it bug out & require a restart.
*Their phone app is also poorly done - difficult to use & not displaying updated settings unless you restart the app. The bluetooth also gets buggy when going in & out of the app to test until you restart the whole thing.
** My PC (windows 11) could not detect this device. Good thing I only need it to control phones & tablets, otherwise I would return it.
As for the build quality, the on/off and mode buttons uses a material that does not seem very durable. It's a button underneath a layer of plastic-fabric.
The charging only has one option; DC 9v. Very good concept to incorporate in a pedalboard. But why not also have USB-C so that we can program it via PC or charge it when away from the pedalboard? Perhaps they wanted us to use other models for that kind of usage.
Hope that Airturn can improve their future products. Other page turning pedals are already implementing Press-and-hold features, too.

Works great for what it is
I bought this for turning pages on forScore. It works great, and I haven´t had any problems with it. Some settings can also be customized, e.c. button sensitivity, which is great!
