Good Strings
Oliver Y. 17.11.2014
A great set of well priced strings. Good tension and a good solid tone for both pizz and arco. Not so hot if you want to use them for rockabilly slapping as they don't feel like they will stand up to a lot of heavy playing.

Bt
Spirocores on a budget
Bow them or pluck them. All good. 27.07.2023
Tried these on my NS Design EUB after the D’Addario NS traditionals.
For about 1/3 of the price you get a lot of value.
Very bright at first, but after a two week break in period these strings settled down nicely. Good tuning stability.
Pizzicato sound on the bright side with very good and balanced arco sound.

Only minus so far is that the metal has a residue that colors the fingers black and leaves “spots” on the fretboard.
It’s a good idea to clean the strings before putting them on and then both the strings and the fretboard after playing.

A
Economy Spiro weich's
Anonymous 15.06.2016
These strings were used on two 3/4 double basses.

With a similar construction & tension, these strings remind me of Spirocore weich's, also because they have a similar character and sound. They might be slightly sharper on the bow, or maybe they take longer to settle in. A very good soundquality/price ratio.

However, as a downside I broke one of the strings (on the peg), which has never before happened to me with steel strings. Though rope core, the core is apparently brittle, or the string was wrapped to tightly. Thomann has replaced the string.
