Great original ear pad (NOT padS) for ATH-M50X
It is an original ear pad from Audio-Technica for ATH-M50X and that probably says everything. It is designed for these headphones and sound-wise it is probably the best.
However, I am disappointed in thomann. At first I thought it's my fault and I'm the only one who expected it to be a pair. But after reading the reviews I understood there were countless buyers like me. Why e.g., B&H Foto could come up with visually clear image that it is only ONE ear pad, not two like usual? – thomman, even after dozens of users mistakenly have bought only one ear pad did nothing as of yet.
All in all, it's a great product, but if I could rate thomman's description separately, I'd probably give it only ONE (1/5) star. While thomann's customer service probably deserves 5 stars for offering a free shipping for additional item.

After casual daily use of the ATH-M50x for almost 3 years, the old earpads needed to change. The leather was almost 100% gone, the sound was leaking, and every song becomes a bit shrill on the ears. Ordered it here. Shipping was okay, but I expected it to be a lot quicker. After receiving the earpads, I quickly put it on (quite easy, just don't be afraid to stretch it a little bit) and tested it. Replacing the earpads was the right thing to do and the improvements were dramatic. To put it simply, it feels like I just bought my headset yesterday. Snug and comfy fit, crisp audio, and generally an enhanced experience. I definitely would recommend this item.

Original replacement -> same audio quality
You can find lot of compatible replacements online but this is the only one assuring you the same audio quality. Easy to replace: it took me 5 minutes per ear pad.
PAY ATTENTION: if you want to replace both ear pads, you need to buy two of them.

Little pricey and difficult assembly, but does the trick
I found these ear pads a little pricey and difficult to mount (too tight!) on my ATH-M50X, but they're durable.

Replacing ear pads
Replacing the earpads with the correct pads is critical. I found it hard to find them. Thomann made it very easy and there support is great.
I'm really happy to have compy ear pads back. The headphones ATH-M%)x are excellent and it's like having a new pair of headphones.

Pad it self is great, but that would be nice if it would written that package contains only ONE PAD with big letters couple of times, cause i expected to receive two pads and now I'm reading with small letters that i ordered only ONE PAD...

Easy to change
The skin on these earpads tends to crack after about 2-3 years of heavy use so it's nice that they offer them separately, without having to rebuy the whole pair again. They look and feel the same, the only downside is that they were a bit smaller in size than the original (1-2 mm), so it was a bit hard to change them.

The best earpads for M50s
Ive bought replacement non-AT ear pads from third parties before and they almost always have issues with slipping or comfort. These are the genuine ear pads that come standard with the ATH-M50s so they will fit perfectly and last a considerable amount of time. I use my headphones daily for work (owned my M50s going on 10 years now) and the pads do eventually wear out and start to flake after a year or so depending on use. But they are definitely the best ear pads you'll find for the M50s, even if they are a bit more expensive than cheaper options. Will definitely continue purchasing when my old ones wear out.
