Extraordinary low whistle and incredible service.
I wont say much about the chieftain v5 whistle, because there are many reviews you can watch on youtube. It is a quality whistle and worth every penny. Beyond the build quality and beautiful finish, it has a great tone. In my opinion, it doesn't require as much air as some people say. If you are considering this for your first low whistle, it may take some time to get used to the spacings depending on what whistle you are transitioning from, but this whistle makes it quite easy. All in all a great purchase.
I also want to mention the insanely fast shipping. I live in the US so I was astonished that the whistle arrived within 3 business days. The team at thomann are also very quick to respond and mediate issues with payment. Thanks again!

Great Low D as expected
This is my first low D whistle. I must say it's top quality, the sound is astonishing and very "chiffy". I haven't faced any particular challenge at reaching the last hole using the piper's grip. A couple of recommendations if you're buying one: first, the whistle is made out of bare aluminium so handle it with care if you want to avoid scratches on the surface. Second: get some cork grease as well because the slide has a cork ring.

New to piping; this V5 says to me, "You can do this!"
My Chieftain V5 low D arrived just an hour ago. I can obtain two octaves and get through "Greensleeves". The on-line reviews I've seen agree with my early observations and I look forward to the journey of learning and enjoying this instrument.

Feels nice for my first low whistle
This is my first low whistle, having played other wind instruments at an amateur level before.
I purchased it based on the reviews, and I deliberately went for something above the lowest price range, gambling that price = quality.
It's clear that I need to practice some new habits with a whistle of this size, but all in all it's nice enough to play.
I don't have anything to compare it with, in I do like the sound of it, and I look forward to improve my skills on this instrument.
I will say though, that the all-metal whistle doesn't *feel* very fancy. It's just a machined tube of brushed aluminium (I think), without any other finish whatsoever. This might be on me though, since my expectations were unrealistic for a product of this type, don't know.
All in all a nice enough instrument. But if you're buying your first low whistle, and you're not a connoisseur (like me), you might be just as pleased with something at half the price or lower.

Dream Whistle.
If you started with a penny whistle and got so far that you donβt know what to do next, then check out the low whistle of the Chieftain V5 Low D Tuneable. So far, as a beginner, I have not been able to play quieter on a high octave, but my neighbors across the wall appreciated this quality.

Great whistle
I bought this low whistle for recording purposes and I'm very satisfied. It's accurate in pitch and it's very expressive instrument. You have to practice instrument and work hard to learn and became skillful at pipers grip technique, but you get a lot from this whistle if you spend some time learning and practising. You need a lot of air to play it, but it sounds great, very natural.

Not the perfect sound (at least for me), but clean enough and definitely stable. A fine instrument for its price category.
