Random - but in a musical way...

Doepfer's A-149 series of modules emulates the Buchla "Source of Uncertainty" that was a big part of the West coast philosophy.

If you prefer something more musical than the total randomness than the SoU philosophy produces, the A-149-4 is akin to a random generator and quantiser built into a single module. You can generate between 1 and 4 separate pitch CVs that match your chosen note grid (octaves, scale, quint, semitones etc.). Feed this into 4 separate VCOs or even the polyphonic A-111-4 and you get chords.

The best thing is that you can have separate triggers to get evolving layers, with notes changing at different rates. A really useful module for generative music. It works well with the A-157-1 (Trigger Matrix) to change generation in a live session.

Ein wirklich gelungenes Modul, Dieter! ;)

Auch wenn von überallher neue und komfortablere Module auf den Markt kommen, schafft es eine "kleine" Firma im Süden Münchens immer wieder, mich in Staunen zu versetzen. Auch wenn die Oberfläche sehr simpel erscheint, so ist es doch genau das, was ich immer gebraucht habe. Vier Trigger Inputs (oder nur einen auf der 1, der für alle gilt) und entsprechende 4 zufällig generierte CVs sind ein Traum. Ich brauche in der Regel nur die "Cont"-Einstellung, um meine Sequenzen lebhafter oder menschlicher zu gestalten, aber man kann ebenso die musikalischen Kategorien nutzen. Beste Qualität wie immer von Doepfer! Danke!

Tension semi aléatoires quantisées

Le 149-4 est une bête étrange qui n'a pas de correspondance directe ailleurs. Il génère des tensions aléatoires quantisées dans une gamme donnée ou sous un format donné (majeur, mineur, avec 6eme, avec 7eme, accord...) le tout sur 4 voies simultanées.
Ce n'est pas un simple S&H à 4 voies, sa quantisation le destine à la musique générative.
Module efficace, petit, sympa à utiliser. Je recommande pour ajouter de l'aléatoire tout en restant dans l'espace diatonique d'un morceau.
