Rebound is excellent all over the pad. Durable!! Not sure how they designed this practice instrument to respond just like a drumhead sound-wise and response-wise over the whole of the pad, but I love it (and I bought it for my wife's use ... hahahaha). This pad is extremely quiet too. No one complains about its use, and we live in a house where you can hear a normal voice on the third floor spoken from the first floor.
