Je ne sais pas par où commencer : c'est un rêve qui se réalise. Plutôt habitué au départ au jeu sur stratocaster, j'ai franchi le pas et j'ai décidé d'acheter cette Gibson. Tout me plait : le son formidable et l'esthétique irréprochable (vraiment l'objet est magique : une fabrication vraiment soignée à chaque détail, et le côté faded dont je suis fan). J'avais peur du poids (tout le monde en parlait !) mais finalement ça ne me gène pas du tout quand je joue (d'une certaine manière, je deviens plus serein sur scène, c'est bizarre à expliquer !). Par contre, lorsqu'il s'agit du transport, oui, là c'est autre chose : mais finalement, c'est surtout le flight case (intérieur magnifique soit dit en passant) qui pèse lourd. En réalité, avec une housse, cela passe très bien (mais bon, par contre, attention aux sueurs froides dans le métro car on devient parano : on a trop peur de l'abimer !). L'idéal c'est d'avoir une voiture et de la transporter dans son étui.
Côté son, c'est du Gibson : on chope le gros son chaleureux facilement. Un très beau son clair également. Franchement, je la trouve finalement plus polyvalente que prévue (prenez le temps de vous intéresser à l'utilisation des boutons de tonalité !).
Mais pour moi le mieux c'est son manche. Incroyable. J'adore le toucher, la prise en main. Il t'invite à jouer sur le phrasé et les nuances plus que sur la vitesse. Cela me correspond complétement. On est marié à vie !

Nach über einem halben Jahr täglicher Benutzung, kann ich festhalten, dass diese Les Paul eine absolute Empfehlung ist. Optisch macht die Paula durch ihre schöne Maserung, die ikonische Gibson-Kopfplatte, die Poti-Knöpfe und auch das Gewicht ordentlich Eindruck, speziell wenn sie das erste Mal aus dem schicken Koffer gehoben wird. Das war schon ein Wow-Moment, als das Thomann-Paket einen Tag nach der Bestellung zugestellt wurde. Einfach eine wunderschöne Gitarre. Für alle, die eine Les Paul mit einem "griffigen" Hals haben wollen, ist auch die Spielbarkeit einwandfrei. Hier hat man ordentlich was in der Hand. Wer was Schlankes sucht, muss wahrscheinlich eher zur 60s greifen. Gewicht bringt die Paula auch mit, wer sowie schon beim Chiropraktiker angemeldet ist, sollte vielleicht nach etwas leichteren Saitenschönheiten Ausschau halten. Zum Ton: Macht genau das, was Sie soll. Ich spiele die Paula über einen Marshall 205c und diversen Bodentretern aus den Häusern Boss, Dunlop und Bradshaw. Von fetten Clean Sound bis zum Metalbrett ist alles möglich. Aber auch hier gilt: Eine Paula hat Humbucker und keine vintage Single-Coils und auch keine EMG's. Im absoluten High-Gain sollte man wahrscheinlich auch zu anderen Gitarren greifen. Ansonsten passt die Verarbeitung (nicht selbstverständlich für Erzeugnisse aus den USA), die Gitarre kam super eingestellt, tolle Saitenlage, Anstöpseln und loslegen. Fazit: Wer eine "günstige" LP-Standard sucht, die auch noch super aussieht, ist hier definitiv richtig. Es ist eine Les Paul mit allen Stärken, aber eben auch mit (konstruktionsbedingten) „Schwächen“. Das soll keine Abwertung sein, man muss eben wissen, was man will. Bei mir steht noch Tele daneben und schon passt das.

The guitar suffers from the USA handmade quality which is Ok-ish but neck binding carving is not all nice. I think it can be impoved with a vintage braided cloth wiring (more harmonic content) and dimple CTS pots. I also fine tuned the tone caps with a lower value for neck + added 50's wiring and got rid of the common pot plate, now it is more period correct and the sound has more harmonic content. Do avoid shielded cabling, as it will act as a capacitor and kill highs! Now I do not feel the need to replace the stock pickups - they are quite good. I feel, the thin lacquer adds a lot to its resonance and makes the sound more open to my ears - and less stickiness! Fairly heavy but not too heavy which is not for everyone. The jack cover was not color matched which was handled and replaced by Thomann - thanks for that. With the slight modifications above it can be pimped up to be the perfect Gibson from a very good Gibson. The color is absolutely stunning. One more thing: these guitars age and get dings easier. Just roll with the punches and keep rocking!
