The IK Multimedia iLoud Sub is an ultra-compact active studio subwoofer designed to deliver accurate and controlled bass extension in environments where space is limited and room acoustics are often less than ideal. Built to complement nearfield monitors and desktop setups, it reinforces the low end without overwhelming small rooms or workspaces. Rather than chasing maximum output, the iLoud Sub prioritises balance and definition, delivering clear, well-defined low-frequency reproduction for production, mixing, and critical listening in modern workflows. Dedicated ARC X room correction automatically calibrates the subwoofer to its surroundings, ensuring a consistent bass response across different rooms and placements. Bluetooth audio is included for convenient wireless playback when required.
Measuring less than a foot across, the IK Multimedia iLoud Sub is among the smallest subwoofers in its class, making it easy to place under a desk or in tight studio layouts. A 200W Class D amplifier drives a 6.5" aluminium woofer supported by dual passive radiators, delivering controlled, well-defined low-frequency performance despite its minimal footprint. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs accommodate studio monitors and hi-fi systems, while rear-panel controls provide level adjustment and selectable crossover points at 50Hz or 80Hz. When ARC X calibration is engaged, crossover behaviour and low-frequency alignment are handled automatically. The USB connection allows calibration data to be written directly to the subwoofer's internal DSP and also functions as a stereo USB audio input at sample rates up to 96kHz – a useful option for minimalist setups.
The IK Multimedia iLoud Sub is ideal for producers, sound engineers, and content creators who need reliable bass control in tight or acoustically challenging workspaces where conventional subwoofers are difficult to manage. It's a strong fit for project studios, editing and post-production suites, immersive audio setups, and dedicated listening environments where bass accuracy and consistency matter more than sheer output. Thanks to its compact footprint and automatic calibration, it integrates easily into mixed-brand monitoring systems without overwhelming the space. Bluetooth audio also allows users to stream directly from phones or laptops, making the iLoud Sub equally practical for focused studio work and more relaxed listening, gaming, or home-cinema use.
IK Multimedia was founded in 1996 in the city of Modena in northern Italy. Its two founders, both musicians and engineers, joined forces with the aim of emulating electronic circuits using computer algorithms. Today, IK Multimedia is a multinational company with seven subsidiaries in Italy, the UK, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Hong Kong, and the USA and exclusively manufactures products which are perfectly tailored to the needs of musicians, true to its motto "Musicians first".
Proper bass control is one of the main acoustic challenges in studio environments. Small spaces further exacerbate the issue, as standing waves and room interactions start distorting and blurring low-frequency detail. The IK Multimedia iLoud Sub is designed specifically to work within these constraints. Its minimal footprint is practical from a placement perspective, and by combining controlled low-frequency tuning with ARC X room correction, it helps compensate for less-than-perfect room acoustics rather than filling the space with excess bass energy. Its clear response brings kick drums, bass lines, and other sub-harmonic detail into focus, helping them translate more reliably to other systems. Extending down to 25Hz, it provides insight into the full low end of modern productions that nearfield monitors can't reproduce on their own, supporting confident mixing and listening decisions rather than guesswork.
IK Multimedia ARC X
ARC X is the defining technology behind the iLoud Sub's accuracy in small and acoustically challenging rooms. Using the supplied measurement microphone and IK Multimedia's ARC X software, the system analyses the room during a one-time calibration process and uploads correction data directly to the subwoofer's internal DSP. This aligns the low-frequency response of the subwoofer – along with the phase and crossover behaviour of any connected satellite speakers – to the room, addressing common low-frequency issues without manual adjustment. Once calibration is complete, the IK Multimedia iLoud Sub operates independently, delivering a flatter, more reliable low end without requiring a computer, USB connection, or ongoing software processing.
