A cab simulator in pedal format

With the high-quality sound of its 11 authentic cabinet simulations, the Mooer Cab X2 is the ideal solution for all guitarists and bassists who don't want to lug around a power amp and speaker cabinets for live gigs, or who are looking for just the right tool for direct recording. All packaged in a compact pedal enclosure, the Mooer Cab X2 has a whole host of options for players to create their own personalised cab sound, including its own dedicated editor software, which allows users to import IRs and many other settings from the comfort of their computer. With 14 memory slots, there are plenty of cabinet models available at the touch of a button, and they can be further customised to personal taste with high and low-cut filters and a latency of up to 20ms. Finally, thanks to its stereo inputs and outputs, as well as a headphone jack, the Mooer Cab X2 is extremely versatile.

Highly intuitive

Compared to the company's Micro series of pedals, the enclosures of Mooer's X2 series are larger, and the key advantage this gives the Cab X2 is to make its user interface nice and clear. There are two filters (high and low cut) for managing tone control, while the level control is used to adjust the overall volume. The latency potentiometer controls the spatial reverb, a function absolutely crucial for an authentic playing feel. However, the X2's centrepiece is the CAB control with its 11 presets: There is a pleasing variety to the selection, which ranges from traditional American 1x12" cabs to the emulation of classic British cabs, as well as the legendary SVT bass cabinets – in three versions. The names of the cabinet types are simply printed on the right-hand side of the unit itself, so musicians have all the information they need at a glance, without having to consult the manual.

A multitool for rehearsals, stage, and studio

Experienced users of pedalboards, preamps, or modellers will find that the Mooer Cab X2 represents a professional-sounding solution for prepping their guitar sound for amplification via a mixer, a line amplifier, or directly via the recording interface of theie DAW. The 11 presets should be thought of as a flexible starting point for individual creations, which in turn can be stored in 14 memory slots and recalled at the touch of a button. In addition, the device's stereo signal routing makes it a practical tool for stereo keyboard setups, or in concert with any number of other stereo signal sources: For rehearsals, recording in the studio and, of course, for playing on stage.

About Mooer

Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's product range now also includes solutions that feature amp modelling, IR-based speaker simulation, and matching equalisers, and the company's focus remains firmly on the use of digital technology.

Cabs for everyone!

Under the bonnet of the Mooer Cab X2 is everything musicians need to amplify signals coming from a pedalboard or preamp/modeler. In many cases, this is enough to entirely eliminate the need for a heavy, cumbersome amp - which is obviously a real bonus for live gigs in particular, both in terms of getting to the venue and of miking up after arrival, where the X2 can simply be plugged into the mixer at the end of the effects chain; the folks on the mixing desk will do the rest. When recording, on the other hand, the Mooer Cab X2's most impressive feature is the way the Cab X2 software enables a series of extensive control options, not only for editing the cabinet types, but also to import IRs from third-party providers. The Mooer Cab X2 comes with a 9-volt power supply and a USB-A to USB-C cable.
