Good product, but had to return due to lots of dead pixels on the screen
Anonymous 13.11.2022
Good sound, great flexibility with the inputs/outputs and buttons, love the feel of the knobs and all the hands on control. However, the LED display is only really viewable straight on, and most people don't use this interface with their head on the desk. An OLED display would be far, far better. And my unit came with about 15% of the pixels dead right out of the box. Must've taken a beating somewhere, or installed with a faulty one?!

Great sounding but no software means no routing options
nsfhmm 15.12.2024
I loved it for the premium feel, rugged enclosure, sturdy knobs and great sounding pres. Definitely a thousand steps up from my focusrite Scarlett 18i8.
Ended up sending it back though.

This audio interface only runs on a firmware (Mac user here). This means that there is no software option to route your outs or create que mixes in alternative and creative ways. The 3-4 outs, for example, are clearly there JUST for a second monitor pair, since the stereo output 1-2 and 3-4 mutually exclude each other.

I thought I wanted an audio interface without software to future proof my studio, avoiding to have to forcefully upgrade to a new interface in a couple of years (happened to me several times already), but I quickly understood that this no-software approach was more limiting than freeing, at least in my use case.

Thanks to thomann I had the opportunity to spend some days with it and finally decided to send it back.

The sound was sick, though. Recommended if you just need a “standard” audio interface with no routing option, I guess?

Great for home use
AsGoBrachLiom 03.02.2024
I have been using this to record guitar and vocals in my home studio. The build is solid and it was a major step forward from my focusrite 212. It works very well with Bitwig and Ableton. The screen is very handy as is the ability to split the sound between playback and what you are recording. I have not used the loopback function.

Disappointing on many levels
Worked for 2 years/3 year warranty isn't real 18.08.2026
It worked for 2 years, maybe 2.5, and then suddenly it started to disconnect randomly during recording sessions or when I was just listening to music. I tried different computers, cables, etc and the issue was still there. The problem occurred randomly: it could work correctly for one month and then suddenly disconnect a few times in a week. I tried using my Scarlett 1st Generation to see if there was a problem with my computer or equipment, and no issues at all. Everything worked. I reported the issue to Thomann, they asked for videos and proof, which I sent even though it took me days to be able to capture it as it was random. Thomann sent the equipment to MOTU and they sent a replacement back (a visibly used unit), the problem occurred again. I sent it again, and just a few days later MOTU said they didn't find the issue and will send it back. When I called customer support they implied that MOTU might have not reviewed the unit and just sent a replacement "to be proactive". So they didn't even check if there was a real problem, and the second time I sent it, they replied a few days later saying all is good, which means that they didn't do the test over a longer period of time. Finally, MOTU will send the equipment back and Thomann doesnt seem to have any interest in helping me out or investigating further into this.
Communicating with Thomann via email is useless as they've replied to my emails with a template asking for my address and ignoring all my questions.

Thomann's 3 year warranty means nothing, it seems like they use it just to make the product more appealing. So don't think that because it says 3 year warranty you're more protected. When I called customer services to ask about how the 3 year warranty works, they told me that if a customer says something doesn't work but the technical team says it works, they go with whatever the technician says, even if you send proof of the problem.

I've been a customer for many years, I've never had an issue, never returned an equipment and always recommended Thomann because of their great customer support and the quality of service. Sadly, I will no longer use Thomann to buy my personal or my company's equipment.
