The slimline, silent saxophone

The Odisei Music Travel Sax 2 Black ranks among the smallest and lightest electronic saxophones in the world. It's designed for a wide range of musicians, from beginners taking their first steps into the world of the saxophone through to experienced enthusiasts and professional players who want to keep up their silent practice routine while travelling. The instrument responds dynamically to breath intensity and finger movements, allowing for nuanced control over colouration and volume, and delivering an impressively broad sound palette. In this updated version, the key mechanism has been further refined and is now made from stainless steel. As a result, the playing experience more closely recreates the feel of an acoustic saxophone; the integrated steel springs further enhance the realistic finger resistance.

MIDI plug-and-play

The Odisei Travel Sax 2 can be used as a MIDI controller – it's easily connected to a computer via USB, and it's compatible with all popular DAWs, giving musicians a wide range of creative possibilities. More than 50 different sounds are available through the accompanying app, including alto, tenor, soprano and baritone sax, but also clarinet, violin, piano, flute, electric guitar, marimba, church organ and many more instruments. Because the synthesizer is built directly into the instrument, practice and performance are virtually latency-free. The integrated accelerometer lets musicians apply dynamic pitch-bend and vibrato effects, for especially expressive playing. The Odisei Music Travel Sax 2 is made from durable synthetics and a metal alloy. Measuring 23cm in length and weighing just 335g, it's particularly compact and easy to carry. The integrated rechargeable battery provides up to six hours of playing time on a full charge.

On the go and at home

The Odisei Travel Sax 2 was developed for musicians who spend a lot of time on the move, as well as for those who want to play at home at any time of day or night without disturbing family members or neighbours. A pair of headphones can be connected via the 3.5mm mini jack output, making playing almost completely silent apart from the sound of the keys and the player's breath. The familiar key layout and genuine saxophone mouthpiece shape make it easy for newcomers to get a feel for the real instrument. At the same time, the acoustic feedback system – the bell is integrated into the shaft itself – recreates the tactile response of an acoustic saxophone, contributing to a particularly natural playing experience. Included are an alto saxophone mouthpiece complete with reed and ligature, three mouthpiece adapters for soprano, tenor and baritone saxophone mouthpieces, a USB-C charging cable, a carrying case, an accessory pouch and a microfibre cloth.

About Odisei Music

Based in Barcelona, Spain, Odisei Music is an innovative company specialising in the development and distribution of electronic wind instruments, designed specifically for practice on the go and in any environment. Born from the need to practise in small spaces without disturbing others – a common challenge for traditional instrumentalists – Odisei Music brings together musicians, developers, and designers in a creative community. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as AI-powered learning tools, premium craftsmanship, and thoughtful design, the company aims to break down barriers like noise, space limitations, mobility, and accessibility, opening up new possibilities for musicians worldwide.

Music for everyone

The adaptive Travel Sax 2 forms part of Odisei Music's collaboration with the My Breath My Music Foundation. The aim of this initiative is to make their instruments as flexible and accessible as possible, enabling more people, including musicians with physical disabilities, to learn and play music. This begins with the extensive customisation options within the Odisei Play app, which acts as a central hub that allows all users to configure the instrument to suit their individual preferences. Key mappings, breath sensitivity, volume, dynamics and many other parameters can be tailored to each player's style. In addition, the Travel Sax 2 features Bluetooth and MIDI connectivity, making it possible both to integrate it into DAW-based setups and to play along with songs, practice material, or backing tracks. The Odisei Music Travel Sax 2 Black combines compact dimensions with a high degree of adaptability and can be configured to suit a wide variety of requirements. Optional accessories such as the Odisei Music Power Bank can add further convenience.

A
Excellent practice tool and more
Agoney 04.05.2026
I have used it profusely for several months now, the perfect option to silently practice scales, fingerings and arrangements. I use it also to register inspiration when happens, try new things and compositions. On top of it, its preset sounds are helping me in my performances, adding a catalog of possibilities when for instance I want to add an harmonica or sound effect part to my performances. Very useful tool, durable and reliable.

On the negative side, you can control some volume blowing harder or softer, but thats it, no mouth, embochure or expression training at all. Also, the lack of visual lights when charging if the sax is turned off has caused some confusion to me about charging times or just forgetting if I charged it or not.

To sum up, excellent tool overall.

AN
Great practice tool
Ant Noel 25.04.2025
I bought this as I have been diagnosed with a perforated ear drum and can't practice with my normal saxophone for a few weeks and it has been fantastic. Not only can I still practice as if though I am playing my usual sax (except for the embouchre) but I am annoying my neighbours less!

I will definitely be using it even after I have healed to just practice the repetitive things (scales, arpeggios etc) to minimise annoying my neighbours!

The keys feel exactly like a saxophone (maybe a tad stiffer than you might expect, but that can be adjusted supposedly).

The service by thomann was great and the item arrived in the UK really quickly too.

JA
IMPORTANT: Check playing each note before thinking its faulty!
Just A UK buyer 21.05.2026
Not being experienced I thought the unit was faulty, it was simply that I was not pressing the keys in combination with the correct fingering.
I spent hours investigating, some of the keys appeared not to work until I checked using a chart to find it was OK.
It will be used for quiet practice to speed up learning and some midi, and for that it will be OK.
I hope this info helps others.

r
more noice than musical sound
reviewer25 24.09.2025
I didn't expect a great sound, but not as bad as it turned out. I hear a lot of noice which is louder than the tones that are played. It is too annoying.
