Pyramid Gold Flatwound 010-0465

Great strings, highly recommended, especially for jazz players. They are slightly pricey compared to conventional strings, but you can expect to pay more for flatwound strings anyway. These proved very nice in my hollowbody guitar, and although I am not a jazz player, I found the clarity of the sound and the lack of the usual noise from the fingers sliding on the strings imminently refreshing. I do not have a lot of experience from flatwound guitar strings, as the only other similar set I have tried in the past was a D'Addario half rounds, but these are even better. Definitely worth a try.

I
Not really flat
Infonetic 14.11.2022
Bought these for one of my guitars as I love flats on pretty much anything. Never had Pyramids before. I genuinely thought that the wrong strings were send, because they feel like round wounds. Same squeaky sounds when you slide. Upon further inspection they do appear to be flatter than round wounds. Personally I like smooth flats better.

Top tones for if you want to get that 60's style sound.

I've used these on my Harley Benton Semi ES Copy and they really change the sound of the guitar making it sound almost priceless.

They've also got a good longevity and have been in used for a good few months without sounding too dull or flat.

Highly recommended.

I was looking for these everywhere

I use these on the Ibanez Artcore with humbucker pickups. Best thing for me about these strings is how quiet they are. Hardly any fret noise, especially clean sounding in the studio. Smear them with a little Fast Fret and you're good to go. I used medium gauge flat wounds before but they were a little too heavy on my fingers. I just like these strings.

Not what they used to be. Intonation issues and poor quality.

I had used Pyramid flat wraps ages ago and liked them but I then went on to D'Addarios. As the Ds had become pricey I decided to give Pyramids another go and they were awful. They are very poorly made and the surface on the strings is visibly rough and rough feeling but final thing that made me remove them from my guitar and throw them in the trash was the D string was wildly out of tune at the 12th fret. I use a bigsby with a bigsby aluminum non adjustable bridge and had never had an intonation issue with D'Addarios EGC23s so in the trash went the Pyramids and on went the D'Addarios. What a disappointment.

I'm sure they're good

I am sure that these are great strings but unfortunately I have been unable to experience them in all their glory as two broke within a few hours of putting them on my guitar.
I would imagine that there was a fault with the strings that I received, which is a shame as for the price I was hoping they might last a while longer.
Before they broke I managed to play unplugged a little bit with them and I would say that they feel great and the resulting lowered action makes playing very easy indeed.

Outstanding strings.

I have plenty of 11s and 10s for my Jazz guitars.

Also use 10s on my Gitane G-300 (Jorgenson)

These are very good strings, last forever.

Say Ciao! to all that fret noise!

t
"bum" G-string
thomann_user 03.01.2018
I had a "bum" G-string (not resonating well and sounding damped) which makes me think of a manufacturing problem. Googling diverse forums seems to indicate this is relatively commong & Thomann offered no help for replacing. If you are interested, buy the superior Thomastik strings.
