I’ve played Vandoren V16 reeds for many years and recently switched to the Sanborn Signature Mediums.
What immediately impressed me was the response. They speak very easily and have a lot of character, grain and buzz, with rich harmonics and a very full, singing quality to the sound. They also remain open when pushed and give me plenty of projection without losing flexibility.
Consistency has been very good as well. From my experience so far, around 4 reeds out of 5 in each box have worked extremely well for me.
I use them on a Selmer Super Action 80 Series I alto with a Theo Wanne Durga mouthpiece, and they suit this setup beautifully.
I’ve now bought 27 boxes, which probably says more than anything else about how much I like them
