Professional quality for live vocals

Sennheiser e 945 dynamic vocal microphone

The Sennheiser e 945 is a high-quality dynamic vocal microphone with a super-cardioid pick-up pattern designed for professional use. With a presence boost between 2500Hz and 6000Hz, this microphone is specifically attuned to the human voice, which it reproduces in a way that is at once natural and powerful. Singers and speakers alike will profit hugely from the e 945's great specs. The mic's defined projection – a result both of its responsiveness and super-cardioid polar pattern – ensures that vocals will hold their own against the other instruments. Sennheiser's exceptional sound quality and workmanship make this a truly high-end device.

Resistant and assertive

The supercardioid polar pattern has two advantages: On the one hand, the microphone is very insensitive to ambient noise, and on the other hand, it is also very resistant to feedback – two vital features that ensure good on-stage performance. Furthermore, the capsule is spring-mounted so that it's also insensitive to structure-borne sound. Additionally, the Sennheiser e 945 is sturdily constructed, with its tour-ready metal housing allowing it to withstand the rigours of live performances without a scratch. The emphasised presence range provides increased transparency, so voices stand out very well against instruments.

For professional use

The Sennheiser e 945 sets a very high standard in terms of quality. That's why this dynamic vocal microphone, which covers a frequency range of 40Hz–18,000Hz, is particularly suitable for professional musicians, studio operators, and event technology companies that rely on high-quality equipment. But its use is by no means strictly limited to professional applications: Anyone using the Sennheiser e 945 microphone at home is guaranteed to have a good time – and, above all, to put on an exceptionally good performance. The robust build quality ensures a long life expectancy, so that the investment is definitely worthwhile; even better value for money is available with one of the Thomann product bundles that include the e 945 and a range of accessories.

About Sennheiser

In June 1945, Prof. Fritz Sennheiser founded the Wennebostel Laboratory, which initially produced measuring equipment. Commissioned by Siemens in 1945, the young company developed the MD-1 microphone, which was launched in 1946. After the development of further microphones, the company was renamed Sennheiser Electronic in 1958. Two years later, Sennheiser introduced the MD 421 dynamic microphone, which is still in production today and still held in high esteem by many sound engineers. Further groundbreaking developments, such as the HD 414 headphones and the classic MD 441 microphone, hugely enhanced the company's international reputation, eventually making Sennheiser one of the leading manufacturers of microphone and headphone systems in the world.

Why not try it in the studio, too?

The Sennheiser e 945 is characterised by its stunning clarity, natural voice reproduction, and assertive cut; of course, these are definitely all attributes that can come in handy in the studio, too. Although the e 945's transducer is specifically designed for the demands of performing live, this mic also offers singers the chance to swap their traditional large-diaphragm condenser microphone for a dynamic stage mic – and to see how this changes the feel and the results. Who knows, maybe the e 945 will turn out to be exactly right for the next recording session?

Sennheiser E 945

The Sennheiser E-945 is a superb high quality live performance dynamic mic.
Pick-up - It has a super cardioid pickup pattern which helps reduce pick-up of sound from the sides which helps its high gain to feedback figures. What makes this mic so nice is that the off-axis drop off isn't too severe which allows the mic to be easily worked by the vocalist during performance. Some super cardioids have a severe drop off which makes them more difficult for the singer to work.
Build Quality - It is rugged and built like a tank. It could easily survive a few bumps and knocks. It also feels very comfortable in the hand with a good quality heaviness about it. It has a very luxurious looking black body with a fetching metallic blue grill.
Handling - Handling noise is excellently suppressed meaning this mic can be easily handled during performance without anything nasty being picked up.
Tone - Every voice is different so you might have a different view to me, but I found this mic flattering to my voice without it adding any colour. It's actually very difficult to describe, but it's a mic that gives confidence. It has a warm rich tone, while still being very clear and detailed.
Feedback Rejection - As previously stated this mic has a super cardioid pick up pattern which reduces sound pick up from the sides. This helps max gain to feedback if unwanted sound is coming from the sides, but will reduce gain before feedback if the mic is pointed directly to or directly away from unwanted sound. I've had no feedback problems at all with this mic at high sound pressure levels. It also cuts through a mix very well and doesn't need hours spent on eq.
Conclusion - Excellent microphone that offers excellent performance. It sounds great.
For further information, I bought a Shure SM58 at the same time to make a direct comparison and the Senni E945 is my preference, though I'm sure others might prefer the Shure.

Above €100.
Peter R. 438 16.08.2023
All Mics are OK if eq'd by a sound savvy person who's gonna sing into that mic (mostly).
Above €100, things change a little, these Mics catch more detail, so need some carefull listening to eq sensibly.
Mics above €200, need even more attention & as these Mics collect even more sonic detail. with this 945 I find that I need a monitor speaker (repeater) close by me as I play harmonica, guitar & sing, this mic brings my harmonica alive, big time (my voice too), so I must keep 'tabs' on my sound, eg, mic distance, via my monitor.
This is all good fun really as I never had a quality mic before, I have the senh... 845s, but the 945 is much more aware of my music than the 845 and a big help for me.
I find a shocking sweet sound difference in the €100 between the 845 & the 945, so maybe another €100 more 🤔🎤
And thanks thomann for bringing me all this superb equip to my door. 👍🎸

Хороший микрофон, со &#108

Good afternoon. My rating of the microphone is 7 out of 10. 1) The first thing that did not suit me about the microphone was its sensitivity, which was significantly less than that of my usual dynamic microphone, which is why I have to raise the gain on my mixer, and therefore there is additional noise and feedback. 2) The low frequencies do not seem to be as well developed as in Beta 58, which I also use. 3) In the low frequencies, there is something that I can not completely cut out on my parametric equalizer without cutting out useful frequencies, because the vocals are not as transparent as I would like. Now I'll tell you what I liked. 1) Despite the above points, the overall sound quality is good, there is something in common with the studio quality. 2) I really like the microphone grille, its weight and the convenience of holding it in my hands. Given the above, I plan to use this microphone for backing vocals in my band, and for the main vocals, I will consider a condenser microphone. All of the above is my subjective opinion, which may change with the time of using the microphone and changing my equipment to a more expensive one (now I use the soundcraft ui 16 mixer)

A
Best mic I've owned
Alan62 31.10.2019
I've owned a number of dynamic mics over the years but I have to say I LOVE my Sennheiser E945. Great clear sound and fabulous for close mic'ing. I'm one of those singers that likes to get right in the grille and it responds really well. Totally recommend it - although you have to remember that it's super-cardioid so watch your monitor positioning.
