I purchased the Shure MVX2U because I wanted to use my SDC XLR mic in my working-from-home IT equipment setup, and I do not have admin rights on my company laptop (Windows 11) to install anything. As promised by Shure, the device worked straight out-of-the-box, plugged into a USB-A 3.0 port, with no additional software or drivers required; 48V phantom power was enabled, by default. It has performed brilliantly over the last few months, providing ample clarity and detail, though delivered with smoothness; it is amazing how such a small audio interface can pack such a punch, and, for the gain levels required by my SDC mic anyway, I was not aware of any excessive preamp noise. If you have access to a PC where the Shure MOTIV Mix app can be installed, then for condenser mics, I would advise changing the Auto-Level gain setting from the default highest level to the middle one; note that DSP settings are stored onboard the MVX2U. If you are looking for a bullet-proof, portable, fully class-compliant, input-only, USB audio interface, with minimal footprint, then I would highly recommend the Shure MVX2U.
