Not so happy!
cigilovic.com 17.11.2021
Update: I had already switched to other power supplies such as Voodoo Lab and lately Cioks, which are both excellent products. Therefore, I never used the Truetone for about 4 years and it was staying in its original box.

So, I decided to sell this and just tested it. It was dead again. I think it's not even close to being a reliable product. Thomann offered a new product even though the warraty was already expired. Thomann is the best of the best, thanks so much!

Overall, I don't recommend anyone who is looking for a reliable power supply. This is not it!

My original review:
I bought this along with an ENGL Cabloader to use with my ENGL E570 preamp. E570's built-in speaker emulation is pretty outdated as you can imagine.
So Cabloader was definitely an excellent choice. However, a couple of days later, either Cabloader or this adapter stopped working. I wasn't able to troubleshoot the issue as I didn't have any spare adapters.

I had to return both items and Thomann sent me new ones immediately. (Thomann rocks!)

This time, everything has worked so far, no problem. However, I noticed the adapter was generating a hissing, almost like a sine-wave sound when plugged in. This sound comes from the adapter itself, not from any sound source.

Also, there is a lot of noise generated when used within the system I mentioned.

I must say, I have fallen for the user reviews with high scores.

For this reason, I'm giving this item 3 stars. I wouldn't recommend this adapter personally.

I have already ordered a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power X4 instead and will definitely publish an article with proof of my claims about Trutone and do a comparison.

Once again, it's been proven that you should invest a decent amount of cash in this kind of equipment.

A result!!

For the past year and a half, I have been searching for an DC Plug for an old keyboard to use in the eu, ( I had been given not the correct one from original owner).

I had looked into transformers etc, but they were expensive for what I needed.

Searched on Thomann and found that they had The Truetone DC plug.(yay). It was The correct tip end and voltage. My search was over!!

The DC Plug works well. The length of the cable was more than enough for me; for some though, it may not be enough. It seems robust and well made. Time will tell. For now there are no problems.

If you have an old keyboard like I have with a 9 v + centre - polarity, this Truetone DC Plug, I can recommend highly. Job done!

As ever, Thomann delivery has been tops. Thank you Thomann!! I now have an old keyboard that I can use again.

Little Power Beast
Radule Lucidny 22.08.2025
I've been playing guitar and bass from early 80's in punk/hardcore/post hardcore/garage bands. Since '89 I'm guitar/vocal in one of well known punk bands in ex-Yugoslavia.
First time I bought Truetone1Spot was because I needed spare power supply for few guitar effects and I was pretty satisfied with it so I bought few more. It is well built with long and sturdy cable and connector that fits tight to pedal fx or daisy chain connectors. In my case it powers 8(!) pedal effects ( drive, booster, screamerfuzz, chorus, phaser, delay, amp simulator, eq, tuner and noise gate, all analog ) with no noise or hiss or any other issues you can relate to power supply, both on tube or solid state amps. And it is like that for 10+ years of live and studio use. Actually in studio l always use Truetone1Spot. At the end me and my band mate (also my son, we both play guitars and basses) have 6-7 or more of these power supplies ( one for each of our live/studio pedalboards, keyboards, spare ones ... ) because l stopped looking for something better long time ago. Not a single one has any issues, real working horses. Maybe l just got lucky but l doubt it. Friends that purchased it on my recomendation are also satisfied with it. The price is also pretty affordable for quallity you get.
If you are not satisfied with the product, you can always count on Thomann support.
All in all - you can hardly miss with that little power beast!

Robust, space-saving, high-power supply with some minor noise issues
Han-earl 16.10.2021
High-power (1.7A) 9V switch-mode power-supply with a single Boss-polarity 2.1mm / 5.5mm barrel connector.

The two best feature of this product are its Europlug-style space saving design, and the robust cable (two 18AWG wires in a figure-8 cable). Those two things make it worth the price alone.

There are some minor noise issues (not hum; high-frequency) when powering pedals with inadequate power-supply filtering (soldering an extra capacitor or two might be an easy fix, but your milage may vary), and/or circuits designs prone to noise (e.g. transistor fuzz pedals).

I often use it with power-hungry devices like the FEA compressor, or certain half-rack units. Because of its high-power rating, it's surprisingly versatile, and a handy power-supply to have around in the studio; you never know when it might come in handy.

Recommended.

Great purchase
DanielJones 07.01.2021
Been using this power supply to power my first pedal (Boss BD-2). No noise issues whatsoever.

When looking for a PSU, I did not want to get a cheap single-spot one because I knew I would buy more pedals at some point. Conversely, I did not want to buy a whole isolated multi-output power supply unit, because I have just one pedal for now.
This was the perfect solution. A one-output power supply that is guaranteed to be noise-free, which I can use to daisy-chain more pedals when the need arises. Great!

Sturdy, narrow and long cable
t-ars 18.09.2022
Good quality 9V adapter. Actually quite handy that it actually only uses 1 spot. When having to look for a free slot when setting up for a gig, it is no longer a challenge to find a fit after other gear was already plugged in. Also a nice long cable.

Solid 9V adapter!
mbauwens 16.08.2017
I am very happy about this product - I have already bought it several times and I will buy it again if needed (different pedal set-ups). The cord is also quite long and the plug itself is not too big, which are both very good things for live situations.

Works

Tried to use with midi keyboard (supply 9-12V). One time couldn't start, maybe due to low V in the system, but otherwise works.

Nice build and simple....Although, for my own personal view, cable is a bit stiff to fold accordingly to your cabling tray neatness.
I am happy with this purchase due to its price/quality.
