It’s not cheap but worth it
I have a 1989 Thumb NT (since 2002). It’s been my main bass for a long time. But I’m a gear head so I tried and bought my share of other basses in my search for the ultimate bass. From Ken Smith to Fender, Le Fay to Dingwall. They are all great basses but…only a Warwick ticks all the boxes for me.
This 6-string Thumb is a quality instrument. Narrow sting spacing is not for everyone but it’s comfortable, the narrow neck causes less strain on my wrist. The preamp is silent and effective. Turn the treble up and the Warwick growl puts a smile on your face.
Low action is possible. Fit and finish is top-notch.
I don’t like the chrome hardware so I replaced it with black hardware and Graph Tech Ratio tuners.
I’ve also played Masterbuilt instruments, but they are not worth the huge price difference if you ask me. The tuner upgrade and black hardware make this bass look premium enough with a better price tag.
Obviously, this bass is not cheap, but in 2026 it’s a fair price. I think it’s worth it. It’s a great instrument that looks, feels and sounds like a German-made Warwick should. My 1989 thumb is better. But none can match that one. This 6-string is close enough. I keep wanting to play it.

My perfect precious bass
It is just as amazing as it looks. I picked mine up from the Thomann store almost one year ago. It was perfect from start except of one thing. The high C was way too thin sounding for me. After I changed the strings to RS666LD I also changed the setup a bit and I just love it. It growls, it sings, it snaps. I recommend testing it beforehand. It needs very little maintenance but I do like to clean it and polish it.
