I recently purchased the Aquila 88U Red Series Tenor low G strings for my ukulele, and my experience has been quite mixed. On the one hand, I was excited to try them out, especially for their reputation for warmth and depth of sound. However, I soon found out that they tend to break very easily.
Tuning these strings has also been a real challenge. They seem to slip a lot and don’t hold their pitch for long. I’ve spent more time tuning than actually playing, which is disappointing. Overall, while the sound quality is nice when they’re in tune, the durability and tuning issues make it hard for me to recommend them. For the price, I expected a bit more reliability. I think I’ll be looking for other options next time.
