Having no special need for analogue drum machine (or more complex stand-alone drum machine at all), I am perhaps target audience for the Impact. It has it's weaknesses, but overall, I am quite impressed and inspired.
Pros:
- Great live playability and sequencer
- Classic, but also personal sound
- Well scaled tuning of pitch knob ranges
- Self sufficient sound palette for jamming
- Arturia's modern thought out possibilities - and I hope with firmware can be done even more
- Price
Cons:
- Irritating kick drum initial thump noise. For some beats it's good, for other, you need i.e. external filter to "shut it down". It's better to have it, with relatively easy, but not ideal way to suppress it (it also affects the rest of the wave and volume of it..), than to not have it and trying to create it somehow, but it's such dominant attribute of the sound, that not being able to control it in the box is nearly deal breaker
- Quite strong initial click in FM drum - not deal breaker, it will be masked in other sounds, but considerably limits its usability.
- Short (and shorter) envelopes for Toms.
Some suggestions for Arturia, if it's possible to change it in firmware? (or for analogue hackers):
- computer config, or another layer of "color" (or hack) for addressing Cons, give switch to more experimental pitch ranges to Toms, even more, near infinite max.release length for Snares (and even for the Kick), independent scales per track...

Professional and high quality
Awesome little machine, it's easy to learn and use. The sounds it produces are unique and powerful. I'd recommend this item to amateurs and professionals.

Easy to use
So I wanted to upgrade my music with some beats. Arturia Drumbrute presented a good price drum machine to get started. It is my first drum machine so i was a bit worried, how long will it take me to get to know it. I started making realy nice and dynamic beats in no time. It realy is easy to use and it has some neat tricks in its sleeve, like randomness, where you can spice up your dynamics.
Sounds are reasonably good for the price. The kick and the FM drum are great, others can be good with some tweaking. I did not like the fact that distortion knob also increases loudness, but maybe that can work in some aplications.
For the price, Arturia offers one hell of a drum machine. I am happy with the purchase.

Arturia Rules
DrumBrute Impact it's now part of my daily production more or less.. I was waiting something more elastic but instead it has his own sound and characteristic. It fits perfectly in my creation but i suggest to test it before buying for some people.

Amazing piece of analog gear for the price
Turning it on and programming some midi notes, this is going to sound thin. However, activating the color function (each drum has a secondary stock sound, which this activates) plus some distortion and EQing + automation on a DAW and this thing really roars. That's what I think most people miss when it comes to analog drum machines. Shipping the sounds sounding already processed would stifle creativity and reduce the possibilities of unique drum sounds.
I can't recommend this enough, even after I've seen negative reviews and talk of people 'getting bored' quickly. It's not meant to be a complicated device, appreciate it for what it is. It's amazing there's a decent sequencer on board with the price also

A solid Drum
Exceptional features, solid analogue sound that can become extra beefy with the internal distortion, decent amount of different sounds combining both Color and Accent.
The roller strip is a bit gimmicky, it's kinda random in its response and in a live situation is pretty useless.
Arturia sequencing style is top-notch, and here it's no exception. The Impact may not sound elegant, but it's super easy and fun to sequence.

I often end up using the brute more often than my analog rytm because how easy it is to get a groove going, and i love experementing with different kind of signal processesing with the individual outs. For the price it is awesome, wouldnt trade it for anything, always there hooked up when im tweaking around with some weird horrible song ideas. Get it, ya dont like it give it to a friend and then realise you want it back. Happy new year
