Awful unit – not representative of all models, but bad unit variance/quality control
voltra 25.01.2021
I bought these headphones for both listening to music and producing music after reading reviews of them about how they are meant to be very non-fatiguing and detailed, so they can be played at louder volumes without discomfort, as an upgrade for my Sennheiser HD600's. However, I was very disappointed by mine. The treble seemed very harsh and distorted, and the upper midrange actually had a peak around 2.8 KHz, both of which led to music getting quite uncomfortable before even reaching 25% volume on my amp. It seems as if my pair had bad harmonic distortion in the treble, as it basically sounded like harsh and unpleasant fizz in music with a lot of treble detail. Comfort-wise, they are heavy, but the weight didn't bother me at all. The headband does a good job at distributing the weight. However, the seal on the earpads did cause discomfort and pain for me due to the feeling of inequal pressure it causes. No one really mentions this, so avoid these if you're sensitive to very airtight seals and ear pressure changes. I imagine other pairs would sound better than mine, but this kind of quality control on 1300€ headphones isn't acceptable.

Very good balance of musicality and detail.

I’m using them alongside the HEDD Headphone Two, also recently bought from Thomann, they complement each other very well.
The HEDD have the edge on detail retrieval, you can hear further down into busy arrangements, it’s not a big gap but at times it really helps.
The Audeze have a slightly warmer, more musical and less forensic sound. They are much easier to drive and any good quality audio interface will have no problems with them.
They take eq extremely well and the Sonarworks profile adds a bit more detail to the high mids.
I prefer the Audeze with the correction profile and the HEDD without.
They’re both heavy heaphones but the weight is well distributed and I have no problems with either.
I find the Audeze to be the more comfortable because of the lower clamping pressure. They’re very comfortable headphones.
I find the stock Audeze cable a bit plasticky feeling and prone to tangling, also a bit short. I’ll change it with something that feels better.
The solid case they come in looks good but in practice, unless you travel with roadies, it just takes up space and adds weight, it’s easy to find a decent quality carrying bag on Ali Express.
On the whole, if I had to keep just one of the two I would personally go for the HEDD, though of course it’s completely subjective.
The Audeze for me make a great complement to them and are also wonderful for just listening to music, whereas the HEDD are more of a mixing and mastering tool that can at times sound a bit too analytical for general listening.

With this headphone you can hear the smallest details. The stereo image is incredible.
Combined with sonarworks you can reach the perfection.

Really good stuff
Frednugent 17.06.2021
This headphone is incredibly accurate. I use it to check mixes and listen for detail. It came in very handy after an album was mastered incorrectly. These headphones told me the truth and helped me identify a high pitch tape frequency that I was not hearing in my speakers. Saved the day.
They are a bit heavy but I dont use them all the time and when I do I dont find them uncomfortable at all.
The first time I listened to some old music that I know well I actually wept. It was like hearing these old songs with the young ears I had as a child. There was that depth and feeling that made me love the songs originally but that I hadn't heard in years. If you need some high end studio headphones for work try these.
