beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 250 Ohm

The sound is anything but neutral, and mixing with these headphones presents major problems:

- The subwoofer is there.

- The mid-bass is completely imprecise and simply sounds muffled and miss definition

- The kick drum is very tamed, so it's easy to overemphasize in order to compensate the disaperence of the kick, when mixing with these headphones.

- The mids are very nice but generous.

- The highs are, to put it mildly, TERRIBLE. They are far more exaggerated than expected and so heavily colored that they sound glassy and brittle compared to the actual sound.

I returned these headphones and kept the 880s, which, while not perfect either, sound significantly better and more neutral than the 770s.

I wanted to throw them out the window 10 times in the last week. Each time I controlled myself and tried to continue recording. Tonight in the middle of a session I had enough. They went for a little flight across the control room. Not sure if they work now.... It was 100% worth it!
My problem was not with the sound. That was ok (with some EQ). The problem is the cable. It's a heavy coil cable. It bounces around when you're tracking.
Tracking guitars it hangs off my shoulder and down the back of the chair but it's made of a kind of sticky rubber that gets caught on the shirt or caught on the chair at all times. I tried an extension cable, then it bounces heavily on the floor if I move at all. Same for vocals, unusable because of the cable coil noise that I cant get rid of. What a terrible design.
Everything else about these headphones and fine. They are comfortable and sound ok. But that cable is the worst. I have noises from that heavy dumb cable all over my tracks.
To reiterate. The sound is fine but I want to smash them.
