Das McWilliam 4 zeichnet sich durch eine gute Verarbeitung und einen vollen, runden Ton aus. Aufgrund des mitteltiefen Kessels und der breiten Bohrung eignet es sich vor allem für den Einsatz in der tiefen Lage. Vergleichbar ist das Mundstück mit dem Schmid 11,5 (ähnliche technische Daten), wobei es eine deutlich geringere Randbreite aufweist.
