Ideal for damping or modifying your cymbal sound
I bought this set one and a half year ago when I acquired a set of 18" rather loud crashes. My first worry about those was the loudness in a rehearsal space.
In the beginning I used the larger pads just to dampen the volume of the cymbals. Then I found that it doesn't just dampen the sound but also modifies it. It takes out the harshness first.
Pros: Can be used either to completely dampen the cymbals (larger pads) or only to reduce the harshness (smaller pads).
Cons: Couldn't really find any ...

Really do make a difference
If you are anything like me you might be thinking - do these things really make a difference? They are just posh cymbal felts aren't they.
But trust me they do. I do some studio work and 'pit' work where I have to be a little quieter than I would like to be and the cympad moderators work a treat. I use them on everything and they really do take some of the ring and the top end frequencies out of your cymbals. They will still sound like your cymbals but they will reach their sound sweet spot much faster and decay much faster.
If you are looking to take the edge of your cymbals they work a lot better than sticking tape on them and you can go back to being loud when you need to.
A really good purchase.

Good for reducing harsher frequencies.
I use these pads on my chinas, crashes and effects cymbals. Since we're rehearsing in a small room, they help a lot! I imagine they would be perfect on a small stage also, because they cut the nasty harsh high frequencies.
I would definitely seek these out again for my cymbal stands.

Useful for taming harsh highs
The set contains a variety of pads of different thikcnesses and diameters to accommodate different sizes of cymbals. Nice quality material, seems like they would last for a long time.
I use them only on the underside of the cymbal, in place of the bottom felt.
Do they work? Yes, in my opinion they do. They don't deaden the cymbals, rather they tame those harsh highs which can be grating if using bright cymbals. I wouldn't bother using them live, but for recording or just playing by myself, I really like how they smooth out those highs and make the brash/grating cymbals less so.

Good for studio
First lets make it clear - no, these will not make your cymbals dead silent, these are not practice mutes. What you get is dampening - generally useful for taming a wild washy cymbal or to knock off few db for a recording. Probably could help with a small quiet-er gig (in combination with rods, etc.)

Love these
Nice to have an easy option to amend the sound of cymbals. Just add a bigger one for a quieter dryer sound

Cympad moderator box set
The Cympad moderators do excacly what you would expect from the name. They lesson the overall volume of the cymbals and make it well moderate. Great sturdy material and overall great product along with there other lines of cympads. Great for small venue playing e.g. jazz. Thanks again thomann!!!

Great for drummers in small places, the sound engineer will thank you
Many times Cymbals can take over the whole mix when playing at small places, this will still make them sound as Cymbals but will dampen them a little bit, which is great when you still want the Cymbals sound like Cymbals.
Great for audio engineers too.
