Hello, long time bass playa, always loved the sound of Rotosound 66 strings but, those steel babies WILL eat your frets!!!
When one project band needed a "darker" sound, I tried the Daddario EXL165... nickel strings are easy on the frets and the tone is primo...

Beefy strings
If you like your strings THIKK, get this set. I tuned it to C on a 4-string bass guitar (used .135 to .65) and it sounds huge.

Affordable and great sounding strings!
It's hard to find affordable good quality bass strings, but D'addario managed to achieve both!
This strings are comfortable to play, durable and they sound great.
Considering the price and quality of the strings, this is definitely the best-buy in this range.

Daddario EXL165-5
I've been using this particular set both for metal and pop music for years now. It's got an amazing tone and clarity.
I don't see any cons at all, it's exactly what I need for professional sounding recordings.

Good strings for their price
I use them in both my bass guitars when it comes to recording. they are cheaper than elixirs but sound just as good.
imho, if you are doing a lot of practice and gigs, they can be a bit expensive, if you are a string freak like me who changes them every 2 months.
but in overall, they are high quality, awesome sounding and durable strings.
a huge plus about them is that they are made for long scale instruments, so there's nothing to worry about if you have a long scale bass

Just what I needed
You can't go wrong with D'Addario. I needed some strings for the S.U.B. 5-string that I just bought. Since the songs we perform are tuned down a half-step I went with a .135 on the low B. No flop or slop. Just what I needed. Thanks.
