This pedal really is an oddball, brilliant idea executed very well that gives you the opportunity to pull out instant walls of sound whenever you feel like it. Definitely takes a few hours of playing to really get where the pedal sits in your arsenal, as it's tempting to just use it for everything, but really you gotta be clever with it to really make it work in live situations as i've found myself kicking it one in intense moments and it just kills the vibe. The tracking (most of the time) is impeccable on the 'chord' setting and capable of getting the signature glitchy bad tracking sound on 'classic'. One problem i've found on my unit and im certain this is a one off thing is that the note a 5th down is slightly out, and it's only this note i think but otherwise i can't fault it. An appropriate midi controller would be a good investment if the pedal becomes an integral part of your sound, as the sounds which work the best are quite fair apart on the selector. All in all a very versatile and usable pedal (standard 9v in), built well and a good investment if you really take the time to explore the musical possibilities.

compared to the red guitar whammy (version 5) this one does retain the lower register better used with bass. This is mostly noticeable in 1 or 2 octaves up setting where the this pedal (blue bass version) retains more energy and does not drop out of the mix as much. It is however very power hungry with a rating of 1300mA so make sure to use a good psu with enough power.

Yeah... it's good ;)
Think of it as an extension - almost an other instrument - of your bass.
On my board it's patched right after a Darkglass Microtubes preamp and those two are really doing the job.
Fun to play with, brings a lot of creativity (beware the risk of getting lost in the sound for hours) and at the same time, in my experience only, it can quickly sound "too much" so I keep it in a specific range of harmonies, always blended with a smooth overdrive.
I definitely recommend it.

Best Pitch Shift Ever
This is the second bass whammy I bought from Thomann. I borrowed my first to a friend, he loved it so much that did not want to give it back. It took me a while again to buy it but finally I got the second one because I can't play my solo or band gigs without this guy here.
Soundwise it's the most clear and pricise pitch shifter in the market, it even gets better ad it gives you the option to have it dry or wet.

Bass Whammy
Having owned the original I can say this is an improvement in almost every way, better pedal action, much more sturdy casing and the tracking is massively improved. The only things I miss from the old version is the buttons to change settings so you could switch with your feet, and the lovely warble you got when the whammy tried to track multiple notes (the tracking in the new one allows for excellent multi-note tracking so the warble doesn't happen anymore)

One of the most musical effects ever
If used correctly this pedal can be a true extension of your creativity, everything you want to play but couldn't produce with just one instrument, of big jumps in tonality that are just too far away on the fretboard to be able to play on time and still manage to pull it all off, this pedal is your savior!! ;) Use is like an instrument, as this is what it is, not an effect ;)
I always wanted to try one, and having bought the whammy DT for my guitarist in the band now we're getting the Bass whammy to complement it, and remove all the limits tonally for a classic rock band setup of one guitar, one bass player a drummer and a singer ;)

Awesome!
Had high expectations after owning the guitar version, this one is even better! Good tracking, even on lower strings :)

A future classic!
This pedal is an incredible pedal. Unlike other pedals where you have to follow what it does, with this pedal it allows you so much freedom! After an hour with it I was already writing new and exciting ideas based around it's harmony settings!
Also, the fact the regular whammy doesn't have the +5th/+oct setting is a crime against humanity. Easily the best setting I've ever used on a whammy.
The metal case feels like you could knock out an elephant with it! Rock solid! The soft touch switch threw me off at first but once you get used to it you wouldn't even notice.

Pedal for fun
I must admit I bought this one just for fun (and to fill the hole on my board ;)). I am a big Tool fan and I always admired the sounds Justin makes with the older version on this. A lot of option on the pedal and they are all useful in their own way. To be hones, I did not find the use of this pedal within my band but I am sure it will be from use one day, just waiting for the inspiration ;) Oh yeah, but jamming with myself, could have this pedal on for hours!
