More than a supersaw faker

Despite the obvious use - creating the impression of beating waveforms, supersaw-like phases cancellations whilst generating an oscillator signal of a single stable determined pitch - the a137-2 can be used for lots more. It has quite advanced waveshaping powers, the modulation cv inputs can take up to audio rate modulations and give crazy results. I've even managed to patch it up as a shuffling clock multiplier/trig delay for getting shuffly snare rhythms. All in, a far deeper module than the fake-supersaw reputation it has.

Not easy to work with as the outcome will vary on the position of 9 knobs including the input and what you control it with so may take a while to get something of your interest and usable, but fun to experiment with and the price is ok.

No Supersaw Here...Drone Central Instead

I bought this because I thought I could muster a Supersaw-type sound from a saw wave. But I couldn't. It does produce a sweet, almost-Supersaw-like sound though, don't get me wrong. However, if drones are your thing then this module really shines. Just take your time to slowly change the controls; tiny adjustments make a huge difference.

Auch dieses Modul ist typisch Doepfer: Sehr gut verarbeitet, Fokus auf der (Ton)Technik und kein unnötiger Schickschnack an Bord. Es fügt sich super in mein bisheriges Setup der A-100-Module ein. Ich habe mich vorher gründlich über das A-137-2 informiert und wusste, was auf mich zukommt. Es ist tatsächlich möglich aus dem Output nur eines Oszillators eine breite und fette Soundwand zu zaubern.

Man muss allerdings beachten (wie ja auch offiziell angegeben ist), dass der Multiplier am besten mit Wellenformen gefüttert werden sollte, die eine Steigung haben (Rechteckwellen funktionieren eben prinzipbedingt nicht). Das ist eine kleine Einschränkung - aber die Physik lässt sich halt nicht austricksen. Ich persönlich hätte mir eine etwas feinfühligere manuelle Einstellung gewünscht - manchmal ist ein mm mehr rechts oder links schon viel.

Aber auch das ist eben eine Eigenart von analogen Schaltungen. Alles in allem eine echte Bereicherung meines Klangspektrums.

Bin sehr zufrieden.
