Evans 14" EC Edge Control Snare RD

The overtone is well controlled and balanced. Bright and powerful sound. Hard hitters will love this one (specialy metal/rock players).

Service is very satisfying.

The Evans EC Reverse Dot is a beauty. Sounds awsome on my snare and the coating is super durable too. I've been playing on it over 1 hour every day for the past 2-3 weeks and it still sounds and feels brand new!
The head had a lower pitch and a little bit of dryness. Perfect for medium tuning.

While I don't personally use them, my drummer refuses to play on any other heads since he tried these.
They sound nice and even look the part!

The snare is sounding greater than usual. No more of the sharp harsh sound from my snare.

I swapped out the heads on my 8x14 snare, a day or two before a studio session, with one of these and the S14R50. Tuning was straight forward, the same number of turns on each lug, in the star pattern, brought it up to an impressively even pitch all around. During the session, the tuning altered slightly, which isn't a problem if you stay aware of it. I hadn't played on it before the session, so I don't think it had stabilised yet.

Accidentally moved on to Remo heads a while back, so pleased to have this back on my kit!

This drum head is pretty special. It didn't convince me on wood shell drums. But after putting it on a Mapex Tomahawk (steel shell) and tensioning it pretty tied I found a sound very close to the Alex Van Halen (Jump, etc.) Snare sound.
Since it is not coated there is no wear of.

One word to describe the drum head is "Superb"
