Bang for your buck

I was on the hunt for flatwound or tapewound string for my new fretless Harley Benton and I chose these.
I was on a tight budget and these were the cheapest tapewounds I could find but they satisfy my every need. They sound superb on fretless and feel very soft and smooth under my fingers.
Granted I don't have any prior experience with tapewounds but I think you can't go wrong with these.

Die gelieferten 120-60er Saiten waren leider nix

Ich hatte eigentlich die 115-55er Saiten bestellt, geliefert wurden 120-60er. Und die waren genau 1 Tag auf meinem Akustik Bass, danach habe ich wieder die guten Thomastik Flatwound Jazz Strings aufgezogen, damit klingt der Bass wenigstens. Ich wollte mal Nylons ausprobieren, aber mit den Galli Strings bin ich nicht glücklich geworden. Farbloser Sound mit unschönen Piezo Nebengeräuschen, brutaler Zug und die Saiten fast schon so fett wie beim Kontrabass. Dann nehme ich doch lieber gleich den richtigen Kontrabass. Und noch etwas hat mir echt misfallen: Die Ballends passten nicht von oben durch die entsprechenden Löcher im Saitenhalter, die Saiten mussten also von innen durch den Korpus eingefädelt werden. Und das geht nur, wenn alle Saiten vorher gelockert wurden und das Schallloch frei zugänglich ist. Das nächste Mal werde ich die Daddario ETB92 kaufen, die sind zwar deutlich teurer, dafür halten sie aber erfahrungsgemäss ziemlich lang.

Um warme Jazz Sounds auf einem bündelosen E-Bass zu erzeugen, sind diese Saiten perfekt. Bislang war mein Instrument mit 'Daddario ETB92 Nylon Tape Wounds' bespannt, mit denen ich bezüglich Klang und Haptik sehr zufrieden bin. Die Ummantelung der 'Galli G77 Black Nylons' ist nicht so glatt gearbeitet wie die vergleichbaren Daddarios, wodurch leichte Greifgeräusche entstehen. Klanglich stehen die italienischen Saiten den amerikanischen in nichts nach. Wenn man keinen größeren Wert auf eine besonders glatte Oberfläche legt, dürfte die Preisdifferenz in Höhe von 15 Euro ein Kriterium für die Kaufentscheidung sein. Fazit: sehr gute Saiten für jazzige Basslines.
