Rich, well-rounded, thunderous low end.

I was looking for the archetypal mahogany shell sound and this has delivered : rich, well-rounded, thunderous low end. I use it primarily as a standalone, high impact element in live performance. When mic'd up and run through a concert PA this can achieve thrilling sonic presence.

Good durable hardware means this stands up to touring and transit. Not the cheapest option but the high build quality and sonic power makes for good value.

I would say - if you're not too picky about sound character in a floor tom I would recommend cheaper alternatives, perhaps this is more for anyone chasing the specific Mahogany character. There are Gretsch Catalina demo videos online where you can listen first if you haven't already.

excellent milieu de gamme

acheté il y a 7 ans pour completer une vieille tama starclassic performer full bouleau (made in japan !!), le fut joue vraiment bien son rôle.
Alors oui, comparé à du tama haut de gamme, l'accastillage est un peu cheap (cercle paraissant mou, vis de tension donnant l'impression que cela ne tiendra pas les années, pas de bague mémoire sur les tiges)
Mais que nenni, le fût est facile à accorder (peau d'origine remplacée directement par une pinstripe), et tient assez bien.
2 enregistrements d'album et une multitude de concerts plus tard, j'en suis toujours aussi content.
On verra bien dans 10ans si je refais un achat :-D

That great Gretsch sound

Das Floortom ist nicht nur eine Augenweide, es klingt auch großartig. Der Sound ist voluminös, aber nicht „dröhnig“. Besonders im Zusammenspiel mit seinem etwas kleineren Bruder in 16“ sorgt es für einen schönen Teppich im Sinne von Krupas Sing, sing, sing-Intro.
Ich habe Evans Calftone-Felle aufgezogen, aber auch mit den mitgelieferten Remofellen geht es gleich gut los. Die Stimmschrauben sind leichtgängig und halten die Stimmung.
Uneingeschränkte Kaufempfehlung von mir!
