Brilliant Swede that isn't a Swede !
menivek 20.07.2026
Like many guitarists, though with my lack of technical ability I use the term loosely, I suffer from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). I'm more of a collector and modder of guitars and although I'm too embarrassed to state how many guitars I own nearly all of them fall into the 'classic' mould of Gibson or Fender I felt the need to own a guitar with a more modern , progressive metal vibe but without the extreme pointy type headstock of an all out metal machine. Having seen quite a few reviews on YouTube I nearly purchased the Hagstrom Super Swede but it too would be another LP style instrument. I saw on their website the Krona model and there didn't seem to be much in the way of reviews but something about it struck a chord with me ( no pun intended ) , I like the sleek lines and balanced looks and being seduced by the marketing information I took the plunge and purchased it on Thomann.
I can report that I was not disappointed , this is a beautiful guitar with understated good looks and really nice hardware. When I modify a guitar I would usually fit a Graphtech Black Tusq nut but this is already fitted. I would also consider swapping out pick ups but no need to with this instrument as the pickups are superb being clear well balanced with the ability to produce wonderful high gain tones and cleans at low gain settings. All in all this is a great instrument with a build quality that is up there with say Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom which I also own ( and also didn't feel the need to modify )
Yes there is a some neck dive if you use a smooth strap and are wearing a smooth top but that doesn't matter to me as I'm usually seated when playing.
IMHO I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this Hagstrom instrument and judging by others reviewing their other models it would seem that you can't go far wrong with Hagstrom instruments.
If there is one thing that did slightly disappoint me regarding the Krona was to find a 'Made in China' label on the heel of the neck and so not a 'True Swede' but hey that seems to be the case for most brands of guitar these days.
