A nightmare mod platform.
I bought this hoping that swapping the pickups would make a big difference, but the weak spots elsewhere are too big. In chronological order: Rust under the laquer of the tuners and they break. The tuner post hole is too big for vintage style tuners, so you need to add material. The nut is a indistinguishable blob of plastic. And when you finally discover you need to swap out the neck - you'll find that the pocket is non standard.

Tuner Broke after two months
The E string Tuner broke after two months (the metal prongs on the mechanism snapped off - so the string could no longer be tuned at all) . Even before that, action was overly high and had some intonation , particularly on the A string. Cheap but not worth the saving.
I regret buying this as I have now had to buy a new more expensive bass anyway to replace it. Obviously, returning a guitar for repair is not easy (and not really worth it for a bass this cheap) so Thomann have sent a replacement tuner for me to repair myself (not ideal for someone buying a beginner bass with no experience of even changing a string)
