Not suitable for a mandolin

I got this to hang my F-5 mandolin or potentially a ukulele. Sadly, due to the foamed neck which should cradle the neck of the instrument, there wasn't enough room for the instrument to fall into the hanger, thereby activiating the arms to keep it held in.
