Fantastic Guitar For The Money
Although this guitar is advertised as having a high gloss finish (and it mostly does) it should be noted that the spruce top is completely matte, which I’m very happy about! The matte finish on the top is extremely thin and allows the top to resonate nicely.
Another feature of note is that this guitar is fitted with an adjustable truss rod. The neck is set with a dovetail by the looks of things (definitely not a Spanish heel) and the top is braced using the traditional 5 fan method.
The workmanship is absolutely flawless, which I would expect from an instrument made in Germany - even at this price.
The woods are very nice, the top has a nice tight, straight grain and the back and sides are a lovely even-grained mahogany.
The neck is made of another nice piece of mahogany and the headstock veneer is a beautiful piece of dark rosewood. The fingerboard and the bridge are also made of very nice dark rosewood.
The tuners are of good quality and are totally smooth. The nut and saddle appear to be made from bone.
The action is pretty good straight out of the box but needs a little bit of work for my liking, but nearly all brand new guitars do. Definitely not an issue.
The sound is pretty good but I do have a feeling that the spruce top will open up nicely given a bit of time and it will get even better. It is fitted with Höfner Premium HPS strings.
Overall I’m extremely happy with this guitar. It’s very comfortable to play, sounds pretty good and is beautiful in its appearance. It’s definitely a keeper.
