An affordable Irish Bouzouki
In the mid-60s, the bouzouki, a Greek folk instrument, made its debut on the traditional Irish music scene. Since then, it has played a pivotal role in the musical repertoire of the Emerald Isle. The Thomann Irish Bouzouki M1089-P is made in Europe and has been meticulously designed to combine solid wood and a built-in pickup, making it ideal for live performance and recording. Its characteristic timbre is complemented by elegant decorative details, such as the ornate rosette around the sound-hole and the mother-of-pearl pegs on the tuning keys. It comes with a gig bag which protects the instrument and has a front pocket for accessories, as well as two straps ensuring safe transport.
Made in Europe
The Irish bouzouki is characterised by a flat back and the Thomann M1089-P is no exception. It's crafted from solid maple, paired with a solid spruce top to produce a perfectly balanced sound that's rich in harmonics. The laminated maple sides add to the sturdy design, without compromising on resonance. The maple neck, coupled with an acacia fingerboard, provides a scale length of 66.5cm with 23 frets. Four pairs of strings (or courses), tuned to GG-DD-AA-E'E' are anchored to a chrome tailpiece, then pass through a rosewood bridge and a 3.4cm upper nut before joining the classical guitar-style tuners. A built-in preamp with a three-band EQ allows players to amplify the instrument on stage or in the studio. The jack output is concealed discreetly in the strap lock.
Ideal for novices and next-level players
The Thomann Irish Bouzouki M1089-P offers beginners and more experienced guitarists curious about the bouzouki's unique sound a perfect opportunity to take the plunge without breaking the bank. Although it doesn't have the richness of timbre or the level of craftsmanship of top-of-the-range instruments, this bouzouki, lovingly crafted in Europe, has surprisingly good sound quality and versatility. Perfect for practising at home, playing during lessons, or as genuinely reliable back-up instrument when performing live on stage, thanks to the piezo pickup and the built-in preamp.
