Flagship hybrid mic for every situation

The Lewitt LCT 940 Authentica combines tube and transistor technologies in a single large-diaphragm microphone, delivering outstanding flexibility and professional-grade sound in a compact format. The 12AX7 tube, visible beneath a transparent casing, produces a rich, warm tone, while the FET circuit provides a clean and detailed output. Notably, the LCT 940 allows users to seamlessly blend these two signal paths, tailoring the mic's character to suit diverse sources. With nine selectable polar patterns - from omnidirectional to cardioid and bidirectional - it adapts effortlessly to applications ranging from close-miked vocals to ambient room recordings. Complete with a low-cut filter, a three-stage pad, and a power supply unit, the LCT 940 delivers exceptional quality recordings, while maintaining the refined and subtle sonic signature of Lewitt's Authentica series.

Outstanding technical performance

The Lewitt LCT 940 Authentica performs equally well across the entire audible spectrum. Its frequency response spans 20Hz to 20kHz, with ultra-low self-noise levels of just 8dB(A) in FET mode and 12dB(A) in tube mode. Capable of handling SPLs of up to 143dB at 0.5% THD, the microphone's dynamic range is further extended with a three-level attenuator offering pad settings of -6, -12, and -18dB. This ensures distortion-free recordings even when capturing loud sources such as drums or guitar amplifiers. A three-position low-cut filter (40Hz, 150Hz, and 300Hz) further refines attenuation levels, with steeper slopes at the lower settings to eliminate rumble and more gradual slopes at higher frequencies to manage proximity effect. These attributes allow the LCT 940 to capture nuanced performances with precision, even in demanding environments.

Intelligent functionalities

Designed for advanced users and professionals, the Lewitt LCT 940 Authentica's specialised features enhance both workflow and creative potential. Users can blend the tube and FET circuits via a smooth rotary control on the power supply, shaping the microphone's tone on the fly. The nine selectable polar patterns further expand creative possibilities, optimising recording setups for vocals, instruments, and stereo configurations. Intelligent functionalities include an auto-attenuation feature that dynamically adjusts the pad level during loud passages, and a peak saturation indicator that tracks peak and clipping history during sessions. A control lock function prevents accidental changes to settings, while the robust 11-pin XLR connection ensures reliable signal flow. These sophisticated features offer great flexibility and deliver outstanding results in both studio and live settings.

Case for the Lewitt Authentica LCT 940 tube and FET large-diaphragm condenser microphone

About Lewitt

Founded in Vienna in 2010, the midsize Austrian company Lewitt describes itself as the world's fastest-growing microphone brand, and indeed Lewitt has quickly made a name for itself among producers. The reason: The firm has a passionate team that produces remarkably transparent-sounding condenser microphones with low self-noise. Development takes place in Austria, but by producing the microphones in China, among other factors, Lewitt can offer its high-quality products at extremely low prices.

Versatility across the board

The Lewitt LCT 940 Authentica's hybrid technology and neutral sound signature render it a true all-rounder, suitable for a wide variety of sources. Its low self-noise and ability to handle high SPLs make it well-suited for close-miking even the loudest sources, such as brass instruments and drum kits. Meanwhile, its nuanced frequency response captures the subtleties of acoustic instruments and vocals with remarkable fidelity. In stereo configurations, the microphone particularly shines in AB, XY, Blumlein, or ORTF setups, delivering spatial accuracy and depth. The included shockmount minimises handling noise, while the magnetic pop filter ensures clean vocal recordings. For portability and protection, the LCT 940 comes with a rugged transport case and a dedicated 11-pin cable that connects seamlessly to the power supply.
