Line6 Helix Stadium XL Floor

I waited an extraordinary amount of time, hoping to prepare it for an upcoming tour. It took almost 4 weeks to get here, because DHL "lost" it. So, when it did finally arrive, the first thing I wanted was to update the firmware, but first there was an error, and to bypass the error I had to remove the MicroSD card, per some other users that and the same problem.

So, now it booted up, and the firmware upgrade went swimmingly. I put the MicroSD card back in, and reformatted it. Showcase mode was where I went next, so I could test out if it would work for my upcoming tour. The instructions in the manual were not quite correct, but I did eventually get my WAV files in, and got them to play back. It was late, so I figured I'd wait until the next day to dive in, and verify functionality for touring.

This is where things went very wrong. It froze during boot up. So, as before, I removed the MicroSD card. Still froze during boot up. Tried several more times, kept locking up during bootstrap.

As a touring artist, I need gear that works every time. So this was a deal breaker. I've had problems with Line6 firmware issues before (the infamous delete on all your assigned outputs on all the presets), and sold my Helix, as a result. Imagine stepping onto a stage, and your unit freezes/locks up? Where do you go if that happens?

Into the trash bin of history. So, I will stick with my NeuralDSP Quad Cortex, which has never failed me. Line6 may eventually iron out these bugs, but I am not their alpha tester. The features, if they worked, are great, but I can't use a very expensive unit that locks up for any reason.

If you are not a touring musician, you can maybe live with issues. I cannot. I was so looking forward to this, but it became a HUGE disappointment.

Like many of you I was waiting to get my hands on this unit. After powering it up I experienced the first bugs already and wasn't able to log into my account. Took me and ChatGpt around an hour to figure it out. I would describe the sound as mediocre and not much better than the predecessor. playing already has a latency that is barely tolerable and switching presets takes very long. seamless switching is impossible. For the things I play it was sometimes an entire bar without sound. I was excited that I could plug a second instrument in to play together with my gf. Unfortunately the resources are used up very fast. I had only a gate, a drive, an Amp a cab and a room when I wanted to create her signal chain and noticed almost everything was greyed out. Then I was trying the Song feature. Which is great. create a set list, put your multitracks on set your tempo and you're ready to go. Then I set some flags because I needed preset changes within the song as well as some keystrokes to synch a software. Since changing presets takes forever I decided to use snapshots instead. Turned out you can only change it for all inputs simultaneously. The Keystrokes didn't work either because they ran out of sync.
The captures were straight forward but only half of them actually sounded good. repeating the process seemed to help a bit. The Unit looks gorgeous, the controls and the screen are great but this needs a ton of updates until it's ready for the road. I'm also concerned if it actually has enough dsp power on board because graying out everything after 5 blocks is hilarious in 2026. I decided to send it back and return to my 5 years old Mooer GE300 instead because this unit just rocks. If they fix the issues I've mentioned I might buy it again but I don't have the time to sit and wait if they come up with fixes or not. I would never release a product as unfinished as this. It's simply put unusable.
