So loud, so low, so clear

Not every live sound setup has room for a rack, a mixer, and a separate amplifier. The Mackie Thump15v4 puts the essentials into a single cabinet – and adds the extra headroom and low-end extension that larger rooms and outdoor settings demand. A 1400W Class D amplifier drives a 15" woofer and 1" compression driver to 130dB SPL, with a frequency response extending down to 34Hz (-10dB) – one decibel more headroom and 5Hz deeper than the Thump12v4, making it the stronger choice where bass presence and output ceiling matter. SoundCheck DSP provides four voicing modes alongside a feedback eliminator, music ducking, and outdoor mode. Bluetooth streaming and wireless speaker linking are built in, with full remote control via the Thump Connect 2 app. The lightweight composite enclosure – 14.8kg – features metal handles, three M10 fly points, a standard pole mount, and a monitor wedge angle for floor use.

At the touch of a button

On the rear panel of the Thump15v4, two XLR/TRS combo inputs handle mic/line on channel 1 and line signals on channel 2, with a 1/8" aux input on channel 2 for smartphones and media players; a mono XLR mix output passes the combined signal – including Bluetooth audio – to additional speakers. The voicing modes are selectable at the touch of a button: Flat delivers a neutral response for general playback; DJ mode shapes the low end for music playback; Live mode emphasises the midrange for speech intelligibility and live sound; Wedge mode optimises the response for floor monitor use. The feedback eliminator suppresses unwanted feedback automatically, and music ducking automatically lowers the channel 2 level when a microphone signal appears on channel 1.

A real power player

The Thump15v4 is aimed at DJs, bands, and venues where the Thump12v4's output and low-end extension aren't quite enough – the larger woofer, deeper frequency response, and higher SPL ceiling make a noticeable difference in larger rooms and outdoor settings. Solo performers and duos can connect a microphone and an instrument directly without an external mixer; DJs benefit from Bluetooth streaming – two units link wirelessly in stereo, zone, or dual mono – with both analogue inputs always available. The voicing modes cover the same range of applications as the 12v4: Live for speech and live sound, DJ for music playback, Wedge for stage monitoring, with the larger 15" driver providing greater low-end authority. The feedback eliminator and ducking function are a useful addition for presenters and event hosts.

About Mackie

In 1988 Greg Mackie, already a successful co-founder of a pro audio company, founded Mackie Designs Inc. with the goal of producing affordable, high-quality mixers. The company's first official product, the LM-1602 line mixer, was initially produced within the four walls of his home. As sales figures were encouraging, its successor model CR-1604 soon followed - and in 1991 the company finally moved into its first proper production facility. The combination of reliable quality and low prices quickly brought the company enormous success, so that by 1995 Mackie had already sold 100,000 products. In 2003, the company was renamed LOUD Audio, LLC so that there is no longer any confusion between the Mackie brand and its former parent company of the same name.

Built to handle it all

In practical use, the Thump15v4's combination of power, lightweight construction, integrated mixer, and DSP tools suits a wide range of real-world scenarios – from music playback and DJ sets to live bands and larger events. Its versatility and ease of operation make it equally appealing to rental providers, as it can be deployed as a PA speaker or stage monitor with minimal explanation. The angled enclosure allows it to serve as both a front-of-house speaker and a floor monitor; the front LED switches off for installations where visible indicators would be distracting. Three M10 fly points allow permanent suspended installation alongside standard pole and floor wedge configurations. For extended low-end performance, the Thump15v4 pairs with the subwoofers from the Thump v4 series – the matched crossover points ensure a coherent full-range response in both simple plug-and-play and more carefully aligned PA systems.
