For backup assistance and memory functions of crucial clamps in any set up.
Does the trick like any other unhinged memo lock.

However: take notice that this 7/8" is often the end (base) pipe for cymbal stands or drum seat stands.
You won't be able to fit these in most cases, you'll need a hinged memo lock for those.
