Over the years, I only played drums a few times and tried out a couple of pedals (belonging to the drummers in my bands). I think one of them was a Speed Cobra, another was something more expensive (don't recall which one).
Fast forward to last year, when i bought my first e-drum set, and these pedals to go along. I have to say (as a beginner) - these do the job. If my memory serves me right, I (again, as a beginner) probably couldn't tell these apart from the expensive ones my previous drummers had used.
Following a Youtube tutorial, I set these up in no time and could practice right a way.
The only issue I've had a couple of times (but was easily solved by tightening the screw on the underside of the chain holder) was the right pedal getting stuck in the upright position.
Otherwise, the build quality is good, they are heavy, sturdy, fast, and accurate, I never really got the feeling they were holding me back. I do heel-up, can play most non-complex double-kick beats up to 160bpm, and with a 140kg squat PR, I have a decent 'kick' behind my kick.
I'd argue these are more than worth their price, at least for a beginner, wanting to kick away some fierce metal beats.
