One input, three outputs

The Millenium SP 31 is a compact audio splitter that distributes a single microphone or line signal to two XLR outputs plus a dedicated parallel thru, allowing three simultaneous signal paths from a single source. The dedicated thru provides a direct connection to the primary preamp while passing phantom power whenever required, allowing condenser microphones to operate normally while the signal is distributed to additional destinations. Two ground/lift switches – one per output, lever-operated in the style of a DI box – allow earth loops to be broken independently for each connected device. Beyond the ground-lift switches, there is nothing else to configure.

Phantom power and ground lift

The input of the Millenium SP 31 accepts the audio signal on a female XLR connector, and the signal appears simultaneously at two male XLR outputs and the thru. The thru is wired directly in parallel with the input, allowing phantom power to reach a connected condenser microphone – the SP 31 itself requires no power source. All connectors are solidly screwed to the chassis to withstand the repeated connection and disconnection cycles of regular studio and live use. The two ground/lift levers sit adjacent to the outputs, allowing each signal path to be isolated independently should an earth loop develop when connecting multiple devices.

Home recording and small studios

The SP 31 is intended for home studios, rehearsal rooms, and small live setups where a single source needs to be available at several points in the signal chain. Typical applications include recording a vocal while sending the same signal to an effects processor, feeding both a front-of-house mixer and a monitor console, or driving two separate recording or monitoring paths simultaneously. Dynamic and condenser microphones both connect without additional configuration, making the SP 31 equally suitable for rehearsal spaces, recording sessions, and live setups. With only two switches and no other controls, there is very little scope for misconfigurations!

About Millenium

Millenium is one of Thomann's in-house brands and has been an integral part of the store's range since 1995. More than 800 products – from drums and percussion through to accessories such as microphone stands, racks, and recording workstations – bear the Millenium label. These products are made by renowned companies who also manufacture products for other well-known brands. Since they are imported directly from the factory without any further distributors or sales companies, they can be sold at particularly attractive prices. Incidentally, one in every four Thomann customers has already purchased at least one Millenium product.

Studio and live applications

The most straightforward application for the Millenium SP 31 is splitting a vocal or instrument signal so that one output feeds the mixer dry while the other routes through an effects unit – both paths remaining available simultaneously without requiring an additional direct output on the mixer. Alternatively, a single microphone can feed both a front-of-house console and a recording interface, or create a redundant recording path alongside the main live mix. The SP 31 can also distribute an auxiliary monitor mix to several active speakers, each using its own volume control for local adjustment. Measuring just 125×90×45mm, the SP 31 fits easily into a cable bag or carry-on luggage, making it a practical addition to live rigs where a backup split or simple monitor feed may occasionally be needed. As a Thomann own-brand product, the SP 31 is also backed by a three-year Thomann warranty.

Sometimes you get to situations where the monitoring system is hardly present. Then with a splitbox and your own monitor you cn make you gig more pleasant

Works transparently, have no complaints. Pretty light, it wouldn’t add much weight to your rig. It doesn’t feel though it can survive tons of abuse. Ground lift toggles might break if you step on them, and you don’t have extra roof cover on top of them like Radial thingies do have for instance. The aluminium case doesn’t seem to be pretty thick, though I doubt it can easily break.

It has a great quality sound and has selectable ground and lift for each channel yet a lot of units like this only have a general one!

Its very sturdy and will be able to be thrown around in a bag or case while on tour!

It would be nice if the switches were a little bit more low profile, they could get knocked off if it gets thrown around too much.

Overall a fantastic buy for the cost!
