My perfect solution to the 'sticky jacks' on the Zoom R16
A. Merckx 05.10.2022
Ideal solution to the super tight input jack sockets on the back of the Zoom R16: I bought 7 adapters 'Neutrik NA3 MJ' and they stay in the ports (next to the mic). The adapters go in and out effortlessly and have a lock, so you can plug in the input jacks all the way and simply take out the adapters and release the jacks from them using the lock release (far more easy). For me that has been the perfect solution.

Fewer long cables to carry
a Tamás 30.08.2026
A quick solution to running the balanced TRS output of a sample pad into the XLR input of a stage box (some venues take TRS, others only XLR) is to pop this on a TRS-to-TRS cable. Best is always to have cables with the exact connectors, but with the adapter you may need to carry fewer cables (or at least fewer long ones).

The shell is connected to ground which may be a downside in some situations.

The red latch on the TRS female side is quite hard to open but taking out the spring inside eliminates that.

Compared to alternative solutions
This adapter probably puts less strain on the socket than using an XLR female to TRS male adaptor on an XLR cable and it's better to avoid having adaptors stick out of a pad that gets beaten and may wobble.

A convertible unisex XLR connector is slightly shorter than this adapter if you're happy to solder it onto a cable with a TRS connector on the other end and is also cheaper than this adapter and its female XLR version together.

Note
Be careful with output levels, as line level might be too hot for a mic-level input.

Does what it needs to with good sound quality
kxszander 27.07.2019
I use this adapter to go from a jack out of my pedalboard directly into the XLR-only in on the mixer.
It sounds perfect; zero hum or distortion on the signal.
Obviously, the Neutrik connector is vastly superior over other types of XLR connectors.
It does what it says on the tin.
Great, stupid and simple product.

S
Neutrik - swizz army adapters
SKT 01.09.2013
Neutrik's adapter range is extensive and the quality is outstanding. This particular adapter is one of may favorites and the over all range in adapters offered by Neutrik has made my studio patching life a lot easier and allowed me to keep things flexible. They are extreamly rugged and I don't expect to have to replace them for a long time.
