7. Tune-o-Matic bridges
Seeking the perfect Tune-o-Matic bridge (also known as TOM)? Here's your guide:
1. Measure the following dimensions on the old version using a caliper or a precision ruler.
Take out a caliper or a precision ruler and note down these crucial dimensions: A - bolt distance (center to center of bolts), B - bolt hole diameter in the bridge body, and if possible, the string radius (in inches) on the saddle.
2. While considering the material selection, also inspect whether the string saddles are pre-notched or un-notched.
Pre-notched or un-notched? If they aren’t pre-notched or if you’re using larger string diameters, a guitar technician can install or tweak the string saddle slots to perfection.
