Ich spiele den 4er Satz schon ein paar Jahre auf dem Takamine TB10. Wegen der guten Erfahrungen wollte ich diese Saiten auf meinem neuen Maruszczyk Elwood 5LP-Fretless ausprobieren. Auf diesem Bass haben mich die Saiten nicht überzeugt. Insbesondere die B-Saite klingt sehr dumpf und schwerfällig. Auch die Thomastik-Flats haben mir hier nicht gefallen. Mit den 40er Dunlop Super Brights war wieder alles gut.
Ich habe dann die Pyramid-Saiten auf meinen alten Yamaha-Fretless (4er) mit EMG's aufgezogen. Dort passen sie für meinen Geschmack sehr gut. Die Saiten machen aus dem Yamaha keinen Kontrabass. Sie bringen aber einen sehr ausgeglichenen warmen, aber nicht dumpfen Ton mit moderatem "Mwah" und schönem punshy Einschwingverhalten (natürlich auch abhängig von Spielweise und Setup). Obwohl ich kein Plastikfreund bin, finde ich die Haptik der Saiten sehr angenehm. Die Verarbeitung ist sehr gut. Man muss jedoch aufpassen, dass man die Nylon-Wicklung nicht beschädigt. Andernfalls hat man sie bald in der Hand....
Ich kann die Saiten jedem Fretless-Spieler zum antesten empfehlen, wenn die Tonvorstellungen etwas in Richtung akustischem Bass gehen. Für den "Jaco-Ton" ist das eher nichts...

Ces cordes, montées sur une basse fretless de bas de gamme, rendent exactement le service que j'attendais d'elles. Souples, agréables au toucher, un beau son bien rond.

Montée sur electro accoustique de luthier 5 cordes fretless. On retrouve là un son très proche de la contrebasse. Toucher de cordes superbe, facture parfaite. Le bemol vient de la difficulté de précision qui nécessite un ajustement constant dans le jeu. Pour une electro accoustique fretless cela reste le top si on aime un jeu physique et qui demande beaucoup à l'instrument.
