Scala Vilagio F.H. Jakob Stainer Violin 1668

Scala Vilagio F.H. Jakob Stainer 1668 Violin 4/4, handmade in Germany by master luthier Florian Hertzsch after a violin of Jakob Strainer from the year 1668. Jakob Stainer was the most influential violin maker in the German-speaking world. His instruments were played and collected by the wealthy, the nobility, kings, and emperors. During his lifetime and long thereafter, Stainer's instruments were even more expensive than Stradivari's. They remain prized today for their refined, clear tone. True to Stainer's style, this 1668 model features a high arching with a steep rise emerging from a deeply carved cove. Distinctive characteristics include short, tightly curled f-holes and a symmetrically carved scroll. Alpine spruce (Picea abies) top, flamed maple (Acer pseudoplatanus) back, ribs, and scroll, ebony (Diospyros crassiflora) fingerboard, boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) fittings, antique-style oil varnish with homemade amber varnish based on a historical model, thin varnish layer to allow for unimpeded wood resonance, traces of use modeled after historical instruments, final tonal adjustment via bridge and soundpost, back length: 356 mm, strings: Pirastro Evah Pirazzi, certificate included, comes with Roth & Junius Serenata No.04 violin case.
