The original pads peeled off after a couple years, so I completely removed the skin and kept only the cushion, but the fabric cannot be cleaned like the plastic skin could, so that was not really a solution.
A friend who has the same headphones had the same issue, and I bought two pairs of new pads. It's been a few months now, and the newer ones don't peel off, the skin seems to be made of a slightly thicker material, but the contact against the skull is not warmer or rougher. The foam is the same, maybe a little more firm, but that might be because the older pads' foam had compressed a bit with use. At any rate these perform well, the outside sounds are the same, not completely muffled so I can still know what is going on around me at moderate volumes. Good, serviceable pads that can be recommended.
