the t.amp E-400

We are a school and we have installed three of these now in background music applications, in an atrium space, a sports pavilion and a cafe area. The oldest has been running 24/7, 365 days a year for seven years now and is still going strong. The early models had a small problem where the circuitry for energy saving (where the amp goes to sleep if there is no audio signal) would take a few seconds to wake up, but the current versions have a switch to turn this off (Standby On/Off) switch and bypass. I genuinely can't believe an amp of this price would perform day in, day out where amps of higher cost brands have failed over those time periods - we've had a Crown amps not last that long.

This E400 amp has done sterling duty in the two years that ive had it. It's a bit heavy, but it's also very robust. It's pretty loud too and i've not noticed much distortion. It cost less than 100euro from thomann. It a bit of a bargain. My only critisism is that it comes with a German mains plug which is no good in the UK or Ireland. Nearly all Thomann equipment comes with these plugs and I have ammassed a cupboard full of them. If Thomann threw in a UK 3 pin plug for the UK market they would be unbeatable. I check If the item has a fixed mains lead with a German plug if so i won't buy it. Cutting off the mains plug would likely invalidate the warranty. The E800 comes with a wired in plug. This is a shame because Thomann might be missing potential UK and Irish Sales because of a useless mains lead.
