Good instrument, but mouthpiece needs replacement
The instrument plays very well and the sound is lovely, but i absolutely recommend trying a different mouthpiece (clarinet mouthpiece). Very warm sound, and surprisingly and octave lower than you'd expect

Friendly as recorder to go around
For training the mouth for reed instruments, like saxophone and clarinet, this little friend is fine. It gives the sounds for ancient music, or for world music. Playing it brings me ideas, for phrases we can mix in a particular moment of a song.

Very nice little instrument
Bought this because I wanted to find out if I could start playing saxophone. Well playing a reed instrument is more difficult than I thought. I play some recorder, so the setting of the fingers is easy,
But when a friend -who plays saxophone- took this Chalumeau and played on it, I could hear this is a very nice and simple instrument. It sound very nice, with a soft and warm sound.

Sounds good, playable
I know little about this instrument so I can't tell if it really plays well 100%
play clarinet and sax and I can tell is easy to get a clean/pleasant sounds out of it. I could play pianissimo with ease so, well built.

Excellent for the price
The recorder fingering chart included was not accurate, but with adjustment to the fingerings it played quite well and sounds quite nice. The reed supplied was not adequate but the ligature was fine and the mouthpiece was just an ok student mouthpiece, fine for purpose.

Fine for the price
Nicely made but I have found that the lacquer isn't perfect on some of them (I've bought several).
The supplied pouch is thin but functional and it comes with a brush, grease and mouthpiece cover.
The sound is good, it's quite loud.
I have found it to be well in tune, but be aware that the limited range of these types of instrument will limit the repertoire that can be played.
I have converted mine to Baroque fingering by enlarging the fifth hole and the tuning of all the other notes is unaffected.
This instrument inspired me to buy a Kunath 2 key Chalumeau, which as you would expect is better - but for the price of this instrument you really cannot go wrong.
